Some double glazing units are vacuum sealed..its the new wave in insulation..

the gap is there to stop cold bridging and the argon is for sound and energy saving

The argon circulates less slowly than air...

Convection in the air gap creates swirls and currents...leaving a hot spot in the top of the unit and hence a cold area in the bottom....argon being heavier than air is more sluggish...slowing down the convection currents..

That my 2y/o son is smarter than I realised. He has a little toy crocodile that he loves, and he has a little metal car shaped like a crocodile, which we thought he had picked up because it was looked like a crocodile but when I asked him if it was a croc he said, no, car.
