Singles holidays/single traveller

Anyone ever holiday alone?

I do contract work and have an enforced Xmas break so looking to get a bit of sun yet all my mates are married bar 2, who can't get the time off work. Weather here is shite so looking to fly out to The Canaries for 10 days for some sun and relaxation.

Does anyone else travel alone or do you need company to enjoy a holiday? If you do... can you recommend anywhere decent for singles?

PS. Any ladies available in December are more than welcome to join me...

A friend recommended a website to me for singles holidays that she said she really enjoyed. It was called Action Outdoors, and does things like snowboarding/ skiing holidays and such

Cheers, I love the snow but I'm desperately craving sun and copious amounts of G&T after the shite summer we've had! I'll bear it in mind for next year (assuming I'm still a sad singleton! )

My friend does the Travelsphere singles holidays just you, having done Travelsphere holidays in the past I'd give this ago if I was single. As much as I like my own company, for more than a weekend I think I'd get lonely.

I also know of someone that did this, she went to America with them for two weeks. Absolutely loved it and had the time of her life

Gran Canaria PDI has plenty clubs and a busy swinging scene. Haven't been at Xmas or New year but there are a few club parties that we were told about...and singles always welcomed when we where there in the summer....

Have done the holidaying alone thing before because of a similar situation to OP but usually do a mini tour of an area rather than two weeks in one place.

Maybe consider staying in a backpackers type place as it would give you a chance to meet other solo travellers or maybe look into booking a group tour somewhere if you really don't want to venture out on your own.

Cheers. Had a quick look and it looks like they're catering for people who like to do the "touristy" thing. I'm literally just looking to slob on a beach most days and maybe do a bit of cycling or do a couple of bus trips out.

Looks like it might be the tried and tested Fuerteventura again via Skyscanner and an Air BnB apartment.

Ooh.....that sounds more like it! Which resort are we talking? Playa del Ingles?

I definitely like the whole touring about and seeing a country rather than the beach. Was only looking at Travelsphere last night looking at a trip to India.

Oh don't get me wrong I love seeing other cultures but I literally just need to recharge the batteries so something basic and warm will do for next month. It's been a heavy year and I'm not sure 10 days of sightseeing will relax me! Besides... I need to work on my white bits for a couple of decent FAB profile pics..

Will see if I can find somewhere that won't sting me on the single supplement then!

They need to design some "singles only" hotels. Smaller rooms so they don't lose out on revenue from the 2nd traveller and them sad gits like me won't get fleeced for travelling alone!

I'm a solo traveller. Just booked myself a cruise from Shanghai to Japan in December. Most of my friends are settled with kids so can't go.

Been on a cruise with my ex last year so know what it's like. As a single woman I like the safety of the ship. Like a floating hotel. I can be sociable when I want to or be alone. Never been to Asia before so can't wait! It was a last minute deal so went for it!

Plus there is drink available all the time!

I was also looking at group holidays that I might do next year! Although would like to find a travel buddy. Maybe will find one on FAB! Haha!

I went to Tunisia on my own before I met Mrs2. Had a trip round the country and a ride on a camel in the Sahara desert.

I've have a solo holiday every year.

I like cycle touring, wild camping & just getting away from everything, being able to do what I want, without the stress of trying to fit into someone else's timing

I agree with that tbh. If my ankle wasn't so fucked I'd take my bike over to Fuerteventura and put some serious miles in. The roads over there are amazing.

As it is I've booked my £89 return flights to Fuerteventura today and will sort an apartment out with WiFi so I can be as sociable as I like in the evening (or not, if I can't be arsed! ) Have been 4 times but never actually seen most of the island so this year there'll be 2 or 3 day trips and will probably take a boat over to Lanzarote as well.

O sometimes go away for months alone, possibly popping into friends' places but always meet others along the way. There's so much choice upon where to go but only one person to decide. Just do it, then make it work.
