Tim Hardin did a blistering performance of 'if i were a carpenter' at woodstock with just an acoustic guitar .... it's a wonder he could even see the guitar he was holding let alone stand up considering the amount of horse he'd done before the gig. but then i guess if he wasn't blissfully ignorant of the fact that he was playing to half a million people in front of him he would of shat himself and been too nervous to go on

Was lucky enough to get to know John Martyn and see him perform when he lived on a canal boat next to Telfords Warehouse in the 90's. I never tired of watching him play, mesmerising guitar work and vocals

I used to pop in for a pint on my way home from work and he was usually sat at the bar, I didn't realise who he was for ages and just used to talk about all kinds of shit. Then one day they had a poster up for him playing there and then made the connection as to who he was. I still used to chat about the same shit as we had before

I love acoustic versions of songs and most live music. There's something magical and captivating about one powerful voice and one instrument.

Take the voice away and add more instruments and you have what I'm currently loving at the minute and they still give me goosebumps.

It doesn't have to be total black man's blues, just as long as it's not nonsensical "pop music" which seems to be churned out on a far too regular basis these days......

The very same. Writes a lot of music for TV these days but had also released many acoustic and semi acoustic guitar based albums over the last 40 years. His first "The Geese and the Ghost" is a great starting point.
