Loneliness is amplified so much when you get given a piece of truly shit news. The one man who has been my rock and my super hero is not as invincible as me and my sisters believed.

You realise that everyone else has someone to hold them when they feel sad, to wipe their tears away, to tell you it's all going to be OK.

Friends help, of course they do and I have some amazing ones but right now I need some strong arms to hold me.

I know some of you won't understand why others post personal stuff on here but sometimes it's the only outlet. The solice of strangers on a sex site is oddly comforting at times.

2017 has been rather shit and I want the next 6 months to be over with and everything to be OK.

Sometimes it's easier to offload to strangers. Whatever we face in life we somehow pull through. It won't always be shit. Be strong x

I know exactly how you feel. I suffer with loneliness and I am not in a good place right now. I'm broken inside because of how someone has treated me. I am struggling with everything right now but I want and need things to get better. I am sending you a big hug xxxxxxxxx

Big hugs. I lost my mum this year unexpectedly and it’s been the hardest thing ever. Luckily I’m was still very friendly with my ex husband, infact he was the one who broke the news to me, if I didn’t have his support I don’t think

I could have got through it as my boyfriend at the time wasn’t supportive and finished with me a week after my Mum died.

Anywhere you feel you need to vent to is a good outlet, sometimes it’s easier to talk to “strangers” x

There and to the left a bit

Sorry to hear it OP, and sorry you're going through it - totally understand where you're coming from, and if using an outlet such as this to get support is the right thing for you to do, then go for it.

I hope things start to improve for you soon

I am a trained listener.. I listen .. never give my opinions as it’s your time xx so many people listen.. then tell you their problems .. so in a way they undo the good of the listening part..

I know how you feel as my wife has a personality disorder.. I listen.. and fab is my way of having the release and agree what you say about Fab xx inbox me if you want to xx.. but I do understand...

Big big hugs to you also, it may not mean much to you right now, but you can and will get through it and come out stronger

Be kind to yourself and be gentle. I don't believe in time healing, but I do believe in time making you stronger, and time giving you the ability to find strength to move forward.

Again, my inbox is open if you ever want to chat...

Don't think it's silly at all. Most of us may be random strangers and, out of that bunch some may not care or think your silly for opening up here. A lot of us do care though and it's good to talk.

Stay strong!

Thanks everyone. It was such a shock to find out about it last night and I guess now it's just sinking in.

Dad is being very positive about it all so I have to take my lead from him really.

And not Google anymore!

Google is not always your friend. Especially if its medical related!

He has got high grade non hodgkins lymphoma. Starts chemotherapy a week on Monday. He waited to tell us until he had all the info but now it just seems so quick.

Evie, sorry to hear your news. I don't know much about your Dad's condition, but my sister in law was diagnosed, 5 years ago with terminal lung cancer and given 18 months, she is now 5 years down the line and tumours are reducing, with the excellent treatment she is having. We have to live with hope and positivity and I wish you and your family the strength to work through this together.xx

It may sound odd but of all the cancers to have that is one of the better ones. One of my dear friends was diagnosed stage 4 high grade just before last Christmas and she's now clear after lots of treatment so I hope that gives you some comfort x

I find that there is a huge amount of compassion among the forumites, expressing your feelings can make you feel exposed and vuneralble at first thought, but the support you can get from some of the lovely people of fab is priceless, a few kind words can make a massive difference.

Staying strong does not mean bottling things up, it's facing your problems and talking with others. Getting the thoughts out of your head so they do less damage to you.

Virtual hugz coming your way Evie

Sorry to hear your news, you're "fortunate" your dad told you. My dad kept his pancreatic cancer from us. He turned up on my doorstep and I thought the little old man in front of me was lost. I asked him if I could help...didn't recognise my own dad.

His cancer is almost always terminal, your dad has one of the treatable ones. It's the word "cancer" that scares us, understandably.

Sending you and your family best wishes x

We go to the cancer unit at Royal Marsden hospital, in London, regularly. It's amazing and humbling, to see the amount of positivity amongst the patients and the success stories. Cancer treatment has come on leaps and bounds in the last few years and more people are living with cancer, rather than dieing from it. I'm always overwhelmed when we go there and it makes my medical issues seem trivial.
