Is there any point in hiding a profile?, a lady has just joined in my area and I messaged her being polite and the next min it said hidden profile

I found when i first joined i got bombarded with messages. And tgat was with no pictures/profile info. If shes been here before coukd be setting filters

Mine is currently hidden as I’m not meeting at the moment.

I hid my profile and am just chatting to a few people on here and using the forums.
