In praise of the now defunct MFI

Needing new built in bedroom wardrobes as mine are dated but there is no MFI and the wardrobes in other stores tend to be much more expensive and not so nice for the money. I don't mind saying I bought a lot of my built in furniture from the store and I do miss it for furniture.

Anyone else a fan?

Shropshire

Bought my Wardrobes from there in 1995. I did change the handles recently and paint the Gold lines Silver, but apart from that they look as good as the day I bought them!

somewhere in the sticks

Wren is indeed run by the same directors as MFI was.

I cannot see the attraction of plastic ironed onto chipboard (or MDF) -sorry-but I do accept that I have terribly old fashioned taste & therefore end up having furniture made for me & then living in poverty by candlelight in order to pay for it

My mfi wardrobes looked as good as they did 20 years on. I thought they were a good buy.

However my parents always preferred stag or g plan furniture

They're sort of still going. Ish. Sort of. The assets got bought by Victoria Plumb, and they've launched it as one of their brands, complete with the original logo.

Yes. I know. I need to get a life rather than know these kind of things.

Hmm x
