Getting tested for sti etc

I have a question or maybe it’s me who is just not normal. How come people on here say they have been tested for sexual diseases and don’t keep their results? Am l the only weird one who keeps their results? It’s just word of mouth that they do and if you question them further they get angry. Please let’s discuss

I always get mine over the phone. I didn't know you could get an actual hard copy of it. I had a text once, but every other time I've been tested I've had to phone an automated number and put in my dob and the number on the card the gave me

But your test results are only accurate until you have sex again. And maybe your test was accurate on the day, but you may have been harbouring something that now makes them false

I’d never ask to see anyone’s test. Waste of time in my opinion. If I want to play I play safe and look after myself.

This is true, only accurate on the day you took the test.

My most recent was the first time they texted me the result which I've kept on my phone. Different places do it different ways.

I think if you hadn’t had sex for 3+ months you’d be safe to know your test was accurate until your next encounter ?

Usually,they say we get tested but we delete the text message,l find it weird,maybe it’s just me. Not that l would be wanting a bareback but peace of mind knowing am sucking him and he’s clean x

There was a time l spent more than a year after being tested without having sex or sucking a man

I'd happily show the texts I get - however as all they say is "Your tests were all negative" they don't actually prove anything anyway - as it doesn't actually specify which tests.

Also, as others have pointed out, the tests are only 100% clear if you've not had sex for 3 months prior to taking the test - so you'd have to take someone's word for that even if they did show you the results.

Personally I prefer to take my own precautions and get myself tested regularly

Totally agree; the text I get just comes from a generic number, and could literally just be a second sim card you have, which you send yourself to 'prove' to others. Just look after yourself, and don't take chances with strangers

My clinic don't contact after testing unless there's something wrong.

So if nothing is heard by 2 weeks later, then all good. I do wish they'd offer a service where I could get actual proof of results, even if I had to pay a small charge for the print out and postage.

In my area, we ring up and get given the results verbally. I wasn’t even aware that I could ask for a printout or email etc.

When I get tested I receive a text, but I've never felt the need to show someone else. The test could have been up to two weeks ago, who knows how many people I've slept with in that time. I get tested primarily for my own benefit, no one else's.

People can tell me they're clear, but I'll still use a condom, yes I know they're not 100% effective, but there's less a chance of catching anything when using one. Plus, like me, who do I know who've they've slept with in the meantime.

All the results do is prove you're getting checked, not that you're clear.

Yes,some people don’t like to be tested instead of saying it’s not my thing. They say,l was tested a year ago and then change to three months ago. The other guy didn’t want to be asked,he blocked me straight away

Texts here too, and happy to show if asked, never have been either.

As others said though, tests only as accurate as the day they're took, but I take all the precautions I possibly can

Why would we want a phone full of test results ?

We go every six weeks and have done since we started swinging over 6 weeks ago . That’s a hell of a lot of test results !

Should we keep them , print them out and have them validated by the clinic ?

No it’s a crazy idea .

We know we are tested and clear , but we never trust a playmate is , so we assume they may not be and play accordingly .

It’s worked out so far , and if someone wanted to see some 60 plus test results from us before playing we would walk away and find someone else who isn’t so pedantic .

I would only ask to see the results if it was someone who had become my girlfriend and we were gonna bareback. Id expect us both to go togehter and share the results.

The rest of the time I am getting tested for myself, not for others. I wouldn't keep a result, and would probably only share a screen shot or photo of it if I was regurarly meeting someone.

When it comes to the drop in clinics, which is the most comfortable place for me. They treat it as if you HAVE an STD so you take the pills for the issue you may have and then find out over the phone 2 weeks later. When it comes to regular testing you can get through the doctors and a urine sample you can definitely ask for the results. I agree it can be worthwhile keeping it as "proof" as it is very important.

I'd not rely on a test result from anyone but a long term partner as when the test was taken there could have been infections that were too early for detection.

Clinics do not Test for all possible infections, so many people will think they've never caught anything when they have.

I wouldn't save and share results generally though I find it more commonplace as a concept overseas.
