I went shopping today and went to get on the bus and EVERY SEAT was taken by an OAP and I had to stand. What do people think when they push in the que then take over all the seats?

Show some respect, without them, none of us would be here! And yes, most if the ones I work with have been in the war, a couple have been through two. I'm ashamed that they fought for people to disrespect both them and each other.

I've seen OAP's act worse then young un's and they show no respect ether. An old man got on and said really nasty "right who is going to move for me. One of you will have too" and when nobody moved he said disrespectful cunts.

Did they push on or were they on the bus before you got on

Unless you yourself have problems standing why would it be an issue that all the seats were taken up?

You have zero compassion for older people. Show some respect!

If it’s bothering you this much to post it on here then change your form of transport, learn to drive it get a push bike! Or take an earlier bus.

Seats = first come first served!

As someone posted earlier, dementia, especially vascular, does affect people’s frontal lobe which often leads to what we see as bad behaviour or rudeness. It’s not them as a person, it’s the disease. Try not to take it personally!

Here is the problem, over a certain age you can get a bus pass for free travel. They were bought in to help the elderly go shopping but the service is widely abused by the pass holders for constant travel. Hence the new rule that they can't use them before 9.30 instead of 9 now. This is because people have to get to work, and unless the pass holders have an appointment they can travel later. The elderly were up in arms about this and I have heard a lot of moaning and complaints about it. A lot of the time they hog the space meant for wheelchairs and parks with their shopping trolleys and don't want to move. I was on a crowded bus the other day which had people standing on it, a young girl who clearly had a physical disability got on and had to stand up. Did any of the much more able bodied bus pass holders hogging the front seats get up and give her their seat? No they didn't, they just sat and stared at her and she had to stand. I would have given her my seat but I was up the back blocked in by another bus pass holder. It was disgraceful. There should be more rules about the Times the elderly can use the free pass and a limit on the number of journeys.

I'm retired but able bodied. I automatically give up my seat if someone could benefit from it. That could be a young person on crutches, a mother with a baby or an elderly person.

I'm not alone, I see others automatically do the same.

I think it sad that some people lack common decency towards their fellow man, but thankfully there's still some decent folk around so all is not lost!

I’m dyspraxic and score highly on the autism spectrum. I wouldn’t dream of saying anything like this. Yes, there’s usually plenty of older people on public transport and they are so often met with apathy, resistance and downright rudeness that they often have to fight to get a seat that should be offered to them straight away. I’d be belligerent in those circumstances.
