Don't worry about it.

I bet the want you to phone them to discuss payment terms.

DO NOT CALL THEM. Do everything in writing.

They will have fancy letters making it look official but it means nothing.

Do a Google Search of private parking fines.

Be careful with this. It USED to be the done thing but since then judges have awarded in favour of the parking company.

Have a look on moneysaving expert type forums for the latest advice.

It all depends if it's unfair or not, if it's private land and there was signage, limits on times or ticket machines they can issue you with a parking fine.

If you don't pay it the only way they can force you to pay it is by taking you to court and winning.

Chances are they won't take you to court for one but It if it becomes multiple they may.

Look on Martin Lewis's site - loads of accurate info there about how to handle it.

We had this happen at a shopping centre about 4 years ago.

We ignored it.

Then we got more letters with the fine increasing. We ignored them.

Then we got more letters threatening court action. We ignored them.

Eventually they stopped!

Two good sites to look for advice, the Martin Lewis Moneysaving Expert site, and their parking section, and Pepipoo dot com, also in their private parking section. Lots of people there who have lots of knowledge about the private parking charlatans and how they operate, and how to deal with them.

I used to advice folk on the legalities of the so called parking tickets issued by private companies. Things have changed now since a court case went in the issuers favour. It’s now become a bit of a minefield and a lot depends on how they are registered and if their charges are fair or not. Anyone is allowed to ask for a payment in respect of parking. If that payment is not paid they are entitled to write to ask for it and then add on a charge for their time and administrative fees. They can then go to court and ask them to decide if you need to pay. Any legal fees can be added together with further admin fees. By this time it can be well into 100’s if pounds. You would only have to pay if the judge ruled in their favour. Unless you know the companies history with past court cases it isn’t worth the risk, hassle or time.

Park blocking the entrance to the car park on public property, sit eating an ice cream. Tell everyone to go fuck themselves, wait till they council come to move you, then get in the car and drive off.

Do it day in day out till you cost him roughly 11 thousand pound in business.

But that will only work if there's an ice cream van close by.

I did similar recently. Loads of signs. I paid before they put the fine price up.

Whenever I get a parking ticket I wait a few weeks then throw a brick through the council offices window. That way I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth.

Not true, debt collectors have no powers at all to collect money. It's only after a judgement has been made in court and passed to bailiffs that there is legal power to get the money.

I got a parking fine notice once.

I sent them a letter thanking them for the compliment.
