Hi all. Am I the only one who is sceptical about people hiding there profile? Us guys get a lot of grief (I'm sure it is warranted in some circumstances). Just wondering why people would hide profiles on here.

People may decide to take a break from Fab but don't want to delete their profile, so hiding it is the half way house option.

If we have a family issue we hide the profile . If one of us isn't feeling it we hide the profile .. it when I was on as a single I would hide it so I could answer mail... ( after applying all filters) as otherwise online meant by the time I had replied to one message.. there would be 5 more in its place.

Loads of reasons for people to use a genuine tool of the site.

Many enjoy an occasional breather, whether they still carry on using the site or not. It isn’t a big deal.

To answer your questions in order OP.

No you won't be the only one sceptical.

I don't know why people hide them, nor do I really care. The function is there to be used however you see fit.

I hide when I need a breather - but I know I'll be back.

Also if I'm having health issues and not up to meeting but I still enjoy chatting on the forums.

People have all sorts of genuine reasons.

I've also done it when getting hassle from an idiot wouldn't take no for an answer and when I blocked would just set up a new profile.

It's perfectly understandable that not everyone is available or interested in approaches from others 100% of the time - especially when you have been on fab for some time and you're not in the gender category that struggles to get interest from others.

There are also people who are partnered but are here without their partners knowledge or consent - it may be very practical for them to keep invisible.

It's a site used by a diverse range of unique people,, in the ways that suit them, rather than the people who may be looking for them, to shag or whatever else.

Focus on your way to make it work.

There are all manner of reasons why people choose to hide their profile.

They may be taking a break or have reasons for not meeting and it does stop the majority of people from messaging you.

I've only hidden my profile once so far. At the time I was undergoing investigations on a breast lump.

Should I have just carried on as normal on fab just so people could contact me whenever they felt like it? I had enough to deal with worrying whether or not I had cancer to give a flying fuck about the poor souls on here who don't like hidden profiles.

Some asked the question which has made me aware that I didn't explain myself lol. I meant people who message you have hidden profiles. I'm not going to respond to anyone who messages me without a profile. Thanks for all the input though, your time and effort is appreciated. Have a good weekend all. Makes sense now OP

I don't mind hidden profiles contacting me in relation to a forum post but anything else it is rather annoying. If someone wants to hold a conversation with me then I need to be able to read their profile and see if I like the look of them first.

I wouldn't message someone whilst hidden either.
