If they don't have rules, how do they learn right from wrong? From what I've seen lack of rules is just lack of parenting.

As a brother to 5 younger siblings and a father to 2 kids .... yes they absolutely need rules!

However how stringent those rules are is a subject of debate. For example I was brought up very strict but also showed everything I needed to survive. Kids these days with or without strict upbringing appear to very moddy coddled and haven’t the first clue how to do the basics in life whilst at the same time expecting the world and their employers to do what their parents have done for them and wipe the back sides.

The rules that kids need should be a liberating discipline that enables them to develop, gradually increasing their freedom and independence as they demonstrate their willingness to take responsibility

Our kid doesn't have any rules. Never has

But, she is only 6 weeks old, so we figure she probably wouldn't listen to us even if we told her what the rules were.

I think we have rules that not many people question. We pass those rules on to our kids and forbid them from questioning them too.

Haven't seen the program yet but from other similar themed programs I've watched, I think children like having boundaries.

The main rule they need is the Victorian rule- children should be seen and not heard......i could happily live with not seeing them either really

No rules? Ridiculous.

Try having four children with no rules!

Scratch that, just try having four children!

Scratch that - what was my point again?

I'm an exhausted parent...
