Do you ever get emotional days?

I'm talking days where you can't put your finger on what's wrong, but they just seem to be.

And no matter what you do, nothing can't pull you out of your funk and you just want the day to end?

Well that for some reason is today.

How are you anyway?

I have bipolar disorder and days where tearing myself out of bed is a major effort. But im on medication and therapy to help manage it. Everyone can be hit with mental illness. But be open about it and theres lots of support out there.

I'm sure everyone does sometimes....I'm amusing myself with a new diet!! So many vegetables, so little time......

I call it my woe is me days, don’t know why but I just wake up anxious for no reason. Gets me all sad... come the next morning I’m right as rain.

I get that a lot too - at least twice a week. Staying busy and, as much as I hate to say it, work seems to help me

Cheers, I know mines nowhere as severe as your condition. But I think people need to be more aware of how things like these can affect us. I wish you all the best

I raise awareness for mental illness and have taken part in lobbying mps to do more. My high point was i did a sponsored parachute jump a couple of years ago. Was such a thrill!

Yes, and they can hit at any time. I take my tablet and wait for it to subside. I've taught myself to mostly ignore it.

I use a light box that helps a lot as well as vitamin D. SAD can be a crippler. Especially january and february.

Sorry you've can't find you funk today. I've finally decided my financial future so a bit of the stress and worry has gone.

I was told I may suffer from that, I think a lot of people can relate to it also.

A Jonah day? When you're all fractious and crotchety before even leaving the house and everything about the day just exacerbates it? I get them on occasion then the next day is fine. Nothing to solve them other than take some care of yourself and not inflict the grumpiness on those around you (I speak from the experience of someone who has been known to pick a fight with someone for an non-existent infraction just to justify having a good ranty fishwife moment ).

I’m not being funny, you could be on your “man period” for want of a better phrase.

There’s a deep science to it but the generalisation is men also go through hormone imbalances, just obviously not as strong as what women do (or as regular for that matter) which can lead to a short period of being somewhat “down in the dumps”, eventually you’ll pick up again, but thats probably what it is, just a good old lack of chemicals in your body

Hope you feel happier soon. It's horrible feeling that way.

I suffer from depression, was on anti depressants for two years. When I'm on a low now, i really try and figure out what the trigger is, otherwise I feel even worse.

Just remember, there is only one you, and you are amazing.

X

Some of the last few days have been a bit tiresome- living away from home, lacking energy and feeling generally a bit 'bleurrgh'

The best release I've found is to allow myself the occasional private little cry.

Its good to see so many men discussing this and their own experiences. I used to think i was alone with my mental illness but i find the more i talk about it with other men they reveal their own experiences. Remember its ok not to be ok and you have someone in your corner.
