Well I spent the evening at a gig last night. I have to say I found the whole thing quite an amazing experience. Don't get me wrong, I'm well used to going to gigs, but this one was quite special.

The band were incredibly hot, and seeing the guys on the brass instruments and drums may well of caused a stirring

So do we have any musicians on fab? Just for research purposes clearly

I’d recommend her learning the theory as early as possible. My eldest plays guitar, uke, keyboard and sings like Amy winehouse but her lack of theory knowledge really damaged her gcse

Alsorts, we never got stuck to one genre, esp when we've a folk fan on guitar. We played Aztec Camera at our first and only gig.

I have such a love and passion for music, but I honestly don't think I have the skill? Maybe I'm best listening and enjoying rather than learning

I've played in bands for nearly 30 years and currently play in a couple of different covers bands. I also help organise a local Jam Session, they are a great way of helping the youngsters and bedroom performers to grace a stage.

Playing lacrosse took over. The passion is there but the time isn't. I do miss busting out to some of my favourite pop punk and metal bands tho

I couldn't live without music, but I'm an appreciater as opposed to a player. I always have music on, or in my head, and it often helps me when I'm low/ angry/ whatever emotion needs managing x

I think it’s the enjoyment and camaraderie that is providing the motivation and momentum at the moment. First time I’ve been in a band where we can comfortably do three part harmonies and it sounds mega. Plus having versatile musicians to play with means I don’t feel under the same pressure as I did when I was younger. I like not feeling I have to lead all the time. It’s a nice ‘dance’ between us as we all take the lead some of the time and follow willingly the rest.

Used to play guitar/synth/bass in a band years ago. I sing a bit too now and still go through bouts of writing and recording songs/music when the urge takes me.

Guitar-rhythm and lead. Used to play in a punk band.

I usually just play for my own amusement but my youngest plays drums and my eldest plays bass. I jam with them when we can find the time and the neighbours are out. We like to play stuff like Green day, White stripes, Rage against the machine, Nirvana, stuff like that.

Looking at the moment for others to jam with.

I'm a studio musician and rarely play live but you can't beat a four piece rocking out live. I play guitar, bass, drums, keys and produce in various genres from jazz to house. No classical though I'm too impatient..

Sorry I know it's nothing to do with the original op post but I started the day of listening to nick drake and have just discovered a band called pavement and their album crooked rain crooked rain and it is the bollocks,l like to try something different to listen to once a week,as an old grunge head I can't believe they past me by...

What is everybody else listening to at the minute and have you got any recommendations x

used to play drums in 6th form band..then got demoted to lead singer...loads of percussion in youth orchestra and ensembles...now i move the stuff around on stage and tell the bands when to go on and come off...which i will be doing all day in Lincoln on Saturday running a BBCIntroducing stage at a multi site festival

Listen to the stage manager and get on stage when they tell you to. No one has time for your rock star bullshit. None of the techs backstage care if you’re David Bowie or the milkman. When you act like a jerk, they are completely unimpressed with the infantile display that you might think comes with your dubious status. They were there hours before you building the stage, and they will be there hours after you leave tearing it down. They should get your salary, and you should get theirs.

That was certainly not the experience I had on the few occasions I have worked with him on spoken word and Rollins band shows. Really nice guy and very intelligent too
