Can anyone give me any advice about how to take a great face pic please? It’s something I find quite difficult, as I always look at the pic and think ‘Naaah! Not me, not good enough’ And the face pics I do send people quite often present me with replies like ‘Sorry, not my type’ or ‘Don’t you know how to smile?’ or my current favourite ‘I’m not instantly attracted to you if I’m honest’. Now, I know I won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I do feel like I’m letting myself down somehow?

Be kind guys

Two classic mistakes I see are looking down in to the camera (it gives me about 10 chins ) and not smiling.

Send me one and I can critique for you if you like?

Apparently looking up to the camera slightly is the best angle.

I only ever take selfies for a laugh so I tend to be smiling at myself for being a twat so I cant help with the expression thing!

Use the self timer on your phone gives you time to strike a pose.

Make sure the lighting is good & preferably natural.

Often a smile can look fake / contrived so try making a video of yourself messing about /laughing and screen grab the still.

Overall be prepared to take a lot of photos just to capture that one moment

Well I’m glad it’s not just me who struggles lol! I’ve taken loads and deleted any amount, I know what you mean about a smile looking contrived too, I find that especially difficult to make look ‘natural’

There and to the left a bit

As several on this thread will confirm there is no worse selfie taker than me - no matter the angle I always come out gurning and not looking how I KNOW I look - best bet OP is to get someone else to take pics of you when You're not necessarily looking at the camera or aware they're being taken

"Have a more aesthetically pleasing face. "

I achieved this by wearing a mask

I achieved this by not displaying any photographs of my face.

Nonsense! You’re pictures are great.

But I agree, one of my favourite pictures of me was taken while I was unaware at a wedding, just chatting. I think it’s in friends pics, you can see it’s a totally natural smile instead of the manic grin that plasters itself on my face whenever it’s a posed photo

Looking up and slightly sideways, smile - then it's usually too much - then think 'relax' but keep smiling
