Phil Ivey sues Gentings Casinos after they barred him and refused to pay him nearly £8,000,000

The judge decided his method of card counting was against the rules

I agree. Not a good way to play. Identifying differences on the reverse of cards to gain an advantage is not in the spirit of the game IMHO.

I doubt he won them like that, but maybe. I don't like it personally. As a poker player myself, I don't cheat.

Massively unfair in my opinion he got a edge on the casino without cheating(these were the casinos cards) he should be allowed to keep his winnings

Exactly! The casino made a mistake of getting cheap cards... they should all be the same on top or bottom.

Of course he won them like that, he notices little changes in people's body language and noticing when people are bluffing or are strong

It might not be in the spirit of the game, but for if you could take 8,000,000 would you be bothered about the spirit of the game?

It's going on in all walks of life. If you can people can find a loophole in the rules they will exploit it, especially when large sums of money are involved.

Lewis Hamilton is expected to get a Knighthood, he carries a Union Flag and yet lives in Monte Carlo to avoid paying any tax. That's not in the spirit of patriotism.

Er... that's different to noticing card differences isn't it? Tells are really part of poker.

Not in my book, he notices something and used it to his advantage, perfectly acceptable in my book

He tricked the croupier into dealing the cards in a way that highlighted the differences. That's what made it cheating. Had the cards been dealt in the normal way he couldn't have predicted them.

I have no problem with how he plays poker, he is one of the alltime greats.

We all know the house has an edge, it’s how it makes its profit. But what he did was wrong according to the judge
