If you can leave yer lager sobbery and ego at the door, try Galahad premium larger from Aldi. It is an outstanding brew.

Fosters, carlsberg and others are lagers but they don't end there, and I think that's all we are stuck with on draft in English pubs. And they are generally tasteless with no body to them. So a good ale really does appeal more to an English pallet.
