one of my pet hates, it really annoys me and it seems to be the norm now, I chopped my last sofa up and Wheely binned it a bit each week untill it was gone, I don't want to live in a tip but other people think it's clever just to chuck it where ever and leave it to the council.

Nods. It was too good to pass up though. Thanks for being a good sport.

Although, I wouldn't hang anyone for dumping their mattress on the street. I feel it's a little harsh.

It was a less funny joke than mine. Keanu was the actor in the film The Matrix. It was another joke about the predictive text error.

Ok maybe hanging them upside down for a period of time would be less severe. X

Poor old Mussolini if he'd chosen better friends and disposed of his old bed like he disposed of the mafia he would of walked in the end but you make choices I guess.

My area is now rife with fly tipping and people dumping bags of clothing, buggies and old furniture on the street.

Some have cars parked on their drives that are full up with all kinds of crap.

Not to far from casa Sox is an area of student accommodation and you'd be shocked at the things they abandon in the back lanes.....

Someone could open a shop selling most of this stuff ....

I loved the thread about getting rid of it in pieces

Tbf we pay enough council tax which includes waste disposal. Having to cough up a further lump sum to have bulky waste collected because a) it won’t fit in the back of almost cars b) the tip won’t let trade vehicles in, is a piss take anyway.

Good for you and your hearty mattress chopping, much better than leaving it on the street

I rolled mine up, smeared it with 12 packs of lard So it slipped easily into a manhole, out of site, out of mind.

It costs £17.50 to have the council remove a 3 piece in Sunderland

Which is good value compared to smashing it up yourself and transporting it to the local tip ....

The benefit to the private householder is even greater as furniture delivered in vans incurs a much larger fee

£35 for 3 items in Sussex

If they are going to dump them on the street at least dump them where there are homeless or rough sleepers so they can benefit from it for at least one night

Best way to get rid of anything round here. Plonk it on the path with a 'free' sign and it's gone before you shut the door

Wouldn’t have minded but the tumble dryer had been sat on the drive for 2 months. As soon as I pay the council it disappeared before they could give me an appointment!

All the council have done is put in place such restrictions that it gives them a monopoly on waste, there was a day when you could drive round in a pick up doing rubbish removals now it's a cash cow for the local authorities. If they relaxed laws the fly tipping would be reduced if not stopped, but that would not pay for there wages and pensions.
