Do you think if trust has been broken between 2 people it can ever come back if prepared to work at it. Or is it gone for good ?

Trust is built by actions not words and it will take as many consistant actions as the other person needs to see as proof that they can trust you again.

No, it's human nature to doubt. If that doubt is re-enforced by actual deceitful knowledge then true, full, 100% trust will never again be achievable no matter how much you lie to yourself.

Just our opinion though.

In my world trust has it's foundations in openness, honesty, respect and congruence, if any of those blocks are missing for me, there cannot be trust.

No. Once trust is gone. Respect is gone. The two lie together. If you don't respect someone I don't see the point.

I've tried again with people I trusted, who broke only to learn it was a waste of time. The second time is never the same.

Everybody's different so you'll get a whole spectrum of answers. Only some of which will resonate with you OP.

For example, I had a breach of trust with someone, that has not only been rebuilt, but has helped us both thrive better than ever.

Some people will naturally call bullshit on that but they don't know me or the other person involved.

I have to say yes.....after that me and discussion and understanding of both sides why the breakdown happened....

Trust can be broken.

Sometimes it can even be fixed but only if those involved both want it to be..

Yes it can but I think it takes a lot of brutal honesty on both sides first.

I've seen lives embittered when trust has been unable to be restored and its horrible.

I would echo this comment. Things may get rebuilt slightly differently to before but it can be done

no, not for me...as someone above said, it's the loss of respect that is just as destructive...and that can't be restored. If i have no respect for someone, it's redundant to me whether i can trust them or not..i wouldn't be putting myself in the position of needing to trust them..

It may not be easy ...it may even not be repairable...

Then it now depends on what you mean that trust was broken. Did you break it, her? What were the circumstances. Does one party want it repaired more than the other.

It's difficult to ask a question with so many variables when feeling are involved and get the answer that's right or even better, the one you want.

No your right many times I've seen people rebuild their relationships in a stronger way as long as they understand and work with why the trust was broken in the first place.

I think it’s very difficult. Especially if you’ve been in a bad relationship where trust hasn’t existed. Very hard not to bring baggage to a new relationship.

I think it depends on the extent of the problem.

If it was due to someone cheating,i couldnt personally forgive that.

Smaller lies possibly ,but i think it wouod be tough to believe them in future

Think depends on if the whole story is given by the person who broke the trust.

I think in time it can be but it’s very hard as the person hurt while always have the knowledge their trust was broken and depends how much that person wants to or can forget.

In my heart I’d like to think things can be mended and work out in the end. Well it’s what I’m telling myself with my situation so good luck OP

Always a tricky one .. draw a line which means it can’t ever come up and then it’s up to one party to make sure there is no reason to ever distrust and the other to allow that person to prove themselves without throwing up the past
