Bad cough

Getting to the point where im not sleeping now. Had the cough for over a week now, starred out as a cold and took max strength tablets. Now im on strepsils to try and control it so i can sleep. Thinking of nightnurse to knock me out. Whats worth having for a bad dry cough

My kid has had me up since 4.45 with a dry tickly cough. I've piled up her pillows so she's more sat up and give her some kiddie Nurofen. Seems to have done the trick.

She's wide awake now though unfortunately so no chance of either of us getting back to sleep!

I find covonia cough syrup is the only stuff that even remotely helps a cough - it quite literally burns the shit out of your throat so you can almost feel it doing some good!

Try a teaspoon of honey or honey in hot water until you can get to the chemist for some cough medicine. If you have any cocodamol try that but obviously don't mix it with anything else with paracetamol or codeine in it.

Pholcodeine cough syrup is excellent for dry coughs. You can buy it over the counter at any chemist. Best thing ever cos codeine suppresses the cough. DO NOT use it if you have a productive cough though.

A chef of Saturday kitchen swears by a spoon of honey, turmeric and ginger. Any of his staff who start to get a cold take a dose of it an it cures them in a half hour (or longer).

All I would say is keep a eye on what your coughing up!

Mine was a cold the first day that went on my chest by day 2 (coughing green phlegm) started antibiotics that day but by day 5 was coughing up blood. Back to docs for stronger antibiotics on day 6.

Finally day 9 it has got back to clear looking.

So just be aware a cold can lead to serious health problems
