"Hubby and I are both still driving our first cars. He had always had a company vehicle and only bought his first car 3.5 years ago, a Skoda Octavia estate. I failed my driving test 20 years ago and gave up, didn't try again until this time last year. Hubby bought me my car after about 4 lessons so that I had an incentive to keep going and not give up again. I only drove it on L plates a handful of times and he used it more than me until I passed my test. My car is Mazda MX5 1.6 Phoenix edition called Phoebe. " Well done on passing your test. "I love seeing Civic Type Rs, especially when I blow them into the s and watch them get teeny tiny in the mirrors. " Mine is standard and for what they are, they produce a serious amount of power for N/A Start tinkering a little and 245bhp is more than capable whilst still maintaining N/A.....that sort of power per litre from N/A is super car territory Convert to a decent turbo upgrade and you'll find civics with over 500bhp quite common? Correctly done and they're still totally drivable. But look at the new FK8 type R....a 2.0 turbo which as a track car actually makes its rivals really really laughable, focus ST, Astra VXR, Megan 265/275 are trailing miles behind it. The only thing close to the FK8 is the golf gti club sport......you know...that fully stripped out track car

Yeah, you need to be a dedicated MX5-ster to have that on your car... wouldn't look right on any other car! I've resigned myself to MX5's forever now as I just love them... I like the Type R to drive, just not really quick enough for my liking. I've driven EP3s and EK 9s, you can't help but smile when you get to VTEC (yo) . I have a mate with an EP3 special edition, not sure what, he's had a decent bit of work done and couldn't even see me never mind keep up with me anywhere. I wouldn't say that about the new one, Audi RS3, A45 AMG, Focus RS and 135i would all wipe the floor with it, all those are what bracket I've seen it put into but not sure if that's fair.

The only place those outperform the civic is in a straight line Quoted lap times of the ring Civic - 7.43 Rs3 - 8.20 Focus RS - 8.06 A45 - 8.10 It's not difficult to make a car go quick 0-60 or down a 1/4 mile, but the civic clocking that time is downright an engineering masterpiece. As I said....the others a laughably behind......and much more expensive

" I wouldn't say that about the new one, Audi RS3, A45 AMG, Focus RS and 135i would all wipe the floor with it, all those are what bracket I've seen it put into but not sure if that's fair. As I said....the others a laughably behind......and much more expensive That is a big difference, but IMO there's a lot more to a car than how quick it goes round a German toll road." It's an insane difference. Don't get me wrong I love the RS and AMG but prefer the S3, i do feel Mercedes and ford are diluting their brand with the "AMG line" and "ST line" I'm a big jap fan and pretty much would never have an Audi, merc or anything German for that matter.

"morris ital - was on one of those lists of the 10 ugliest cars or something similar - i loved it though" In July 2008, it ended up second in a poll of "the worst British car ever" conducted by The Sun ending narrowly behind the Austin Allegro. It was only made between 1980-1984.

"Bought Sally Simca for £50 at the auction rooms Now drive a beast 4x4 Pajero for work " My dad loved his pajero. Was the car he owned longer than any other and he only sold it when it needed some serious money spending to get it through its next mot. Bloke he sold it to still uses it daily to drive around the fields on his farm. Incidentally, did you know that they didn't call it pajero in Spanish speaking countries as it means wanker over there

Fair enough you don't see it when you're driving but I took one out on a test drive and it was frankly embarrassing how may people pointed and laughed. Maybe that's why they make it fast so you're gone before you can hear the negative comments.
