What was your first car and what are you driving now?

My first car a lovely black Mazda. I had some extremely fun times in that car. A lot of firsts in too.

Hubby and I are both still driving our first cars.

He had always had a company vehicle and only bought his first car 3.5 years ago, a Skoda Octavia estate.

I failed my driving test 20 years ago and gave up, didn't try again until this time last year. Hubby bought me my car after about 4 lessons so that I had an incentive to keep going and not give up again. I only drove it on L plates a handful of times and he used it more than me until I passed my test. My car is Mazda MX5 1.6 Phoenix edition called Phoebe.

Same as Hal.. a Fiat Uno had it for a while.. if it was a drizzly morning had to use a hairdryer to dry the spark plugs to try to start it ...Now have a Ford Focus and the only hairdryer I use now is when I roll down the windows

Started at 17 with a Peugeot 107....cheap to run, great MPG

Currently - civic type R, not so cheap to run! And pretty shit MPG

Start tinkering a little and 245bhp is more than capable whilst still maintaining N/A.....that sort of power per litre from N/A is super car territory

Convert to a decent turbo upgrade and you'll find civics with over 500bhp quite common? Correctly done and they're still totally drivable.

But look at the new FK8 type R....a 2.0 turbo which as a track car actually makes its rivals really really laughable, focus ST, Astra VXR, Megan 265/275 are trailing miles behind it.

The only thing close to the FK8 is the golf gti club sport......you know...that fully stripped out track car

I've been looking at private plates. I was quite taken with the idea of one featuring mx5 but then saw that hubby and I could get similar matching plates with our initials on so I'm torn now

A red E reg metro that was a total death trap. God love my dad who thought he got a bargain. Thing ended up costing me a fortune cos there wasn't a bit hanging the right way and the exhaust kept falling off. Got me to countless raves and every Tom dick n Harry drove it tho. I drive a WV UP now which strangely enough is the same size and colour although a lot safer x

Start tinkering a little and 245bhp is more than capable whilst still maintaining N/A.....that sort of power per litre from N/A is super car territory

Convert to a decent turbo upgrade and you'll find civics with over 500bhp quite common? Correctly done and they're still totally drivable.

But look at the new FK8 type R....a 2.0 turbo which as a track car actually makes its rivals really really laughable, focus ST, Astra VXR, Megan 265/275 are trailing miles behind it.

The only thing close to the FK8 is the golf gti club sport......you know...that fully stripped out track car "

No doubt they are fast for a N/A car but you can stick a big Holsett on mine and make 500ish, anything can with deep enough pockets.

I like the Type R to drive, just not really quick enough for my liking. I've driven EP3s and EK 9s, you can't help but smile when you get to VTEC (yo) . I have a mate with an EP3 special edition, not sure what, he's had a decent bit of work done and couldn't even see me never mind keep up with me anywhere.

I wouldn't say that about the new one, Audi RS3, A45 AMG, Focus RS and 135i would all wipe the floor with it, all those are what bracket I've seen it put into but not sure if that's fair.

An old old K reg (1971) Austin 1300 Traveller (estate version of the Austin 1300) whose back seats would fall down when you braked - and it had an electronic ignition switch that meant you could start it without the key - which was all well and good until you forgot to put the key in and the steering lock came on when turning a corner!! Only did that once!!

My dad loved his pajero. Was the car he owned longer than any other and he only sold it when it needed some serious money spending to get it through its next mot. Bloke he sold it to still uses it daily to drive around the fields on his farm.

The only place those outperform the civic is in a straight line

It's not difficult to make a car go quick 0-60 or down a 1/4 mile, but the civic clocking that time is downright an engineering masterpiece.

The problem with the Type-R is the looks. Fair enough you don't see it when you're driving but I took one out on a test drive and it was frankly embarrassing how may people pointed and laughed. Maybe that's why they make it fast so you're gone before you can hear the negative comments.
