What is considered a vice? (not for woodwork or metal work purposes!)

Got asked to say what vice was and I didn't know what to say (too early for casual sex with strangers discussion!)

Vice is a practice, behaviour, or habit generally considered immoral, sinful, criminal, rude, taboo, depraved, or degrading in the associated society. In more minor usage, vice can refer to a fault, a negative character trait, a defect, an infirmity, or a bad or unhealthy habit (such as an addiction to smoking). Vices are usually associated with a transgression in a person's character or temperament rather than their morality.

Synonyms for vice include fault, sin, depravity, iniquity, wickedness, and corruption.

How it is interpreted differs between religions.

Commonly there are the 7 deadly sins (vices) they are pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath and sloth, but in Buddhism there are 108 that are prohibited. Islamic religious police units or sharia police in certain parts of the Arab-speaking world, are morality squads that also monitors for example dress codes, observance of store-closures during prayer time, consumption of unlawful beverages or foods, unrelated males and females socializing, and homosexual behavior.

I'm not religious at all so I'll stick with what I know to be right or wrong, if that means I'll go to hell for smoking at least I'll have a lighter.
