iPod advice

Advice please from any Apple fans.

My old laptop (which sadly died a few weeks back) had all my iTunes loaded, which I had on my iPod nano.

I now have a new laptop, but can't seem to put the music on there from my iPod.

Is it possible to put my iPod music onto my new laptop?

Hope I've explained my problem clearly, would appreciate any non technical uncomplicated replies or advice.

Assuming the new laptop is a MacBook, you can connect the cable that comes with the Nano to the USB port of the laptop. Then open iTunes and choose to synch the Nano with the MacBook. Good luck!

As long as you downloaded the music to iTunes you should be able to just log into iTunes on your account and sync the music back to the iPod

This happened to me a few years back... had all my songs on my iPod, but not on my computer!

I used a program called Senuti, took everything off the iPod (which is encrypted) and onto the new computer

Be sure not to sync iTunes with your iPod... Your current iTunes on your new computer has nothing in it, so that's how your iPod will end up.

When we installed windows 10 it killed iTunes so if we have to start again.

Iv had this happen a few times now where iv got a virus and had to reboot laptop from scratch and lost all my itunes. Soon as plug ipod in ( retro ipod ) deleted all my albums off, of it! So had to start from scratch, but what iv done now is buy a external hard drive and as well as load it up on to itunes iv also saved them all on to my external hard drive. So all i have to do now is copy all the albums across from my external hard drive in to itunes. And that way i can borrow a mates external hard drive and transfer albums they have and i dont on to itunes.

So the jist if it all is buy a external hard drive copy your itunes off your old laptop on to it and then copy from your external hard drive on to your itunes on your new lap top.

As stated above do not sync iTunes and ipod until you have repopulated iTunes. You lose everything.

You should be able to log onto your iTunes account and download all tracks on itunes.

If that does not work there is a number of programs that can be used to move tracks from your ipod back to iTunes. You just need to Google that particular question. I have done it twice before and recently as Apple no longer supports my iPod.

Now I use android.

Simple as a mac user I have used ipod access, anytrans, wondershare or tunesgo in the past surely one of them should work for PC.

recommend ipod access or anytrans with other two you might mistakenly delete your music.

Ahhh damn, which way is it dead? Could always take your old laptop hard drive out if its dead and try and hook it up to your new lap top!

Yes, I've done that and it only shows the tracks I've previously purchased, not the ones I downloaded from CD's. Hope all that makes sense

'Dead' no life when I switch it on. Totally dead. Took it into the repair shop, they confirmed its unrepairable.

Ah now you're talking way too technical for me, would be easier to upload all my fave CD's again..

Yes makes sense. Then Surepod or mediawidget (which requires to be bought) would be my suggested answers. I have used mediawidget twice to rescue my iPod and now because Apple is such an area I keep my music on a tablet that takes a 250gb micro memory card and will buy the 400gb micro memory card when the price drops.

Get yourself a Dual 2.5" 3.5" all in 1 hdd hard drive disk clone docking station. Take hard drive out of old laptop and insert it. Connect the clone to your new laptop and you can copy files to it from the old laptop hard drive.

Nope. Not a clue "

Take hard drive out of dead lappy. (It's fun, honest!!) or get someone to do it for you.

Buy yourself a HDD docking station that fits 2.5 and 3.5 drives.

Plug that into new lappy and set it up. (should be just plug and go)

Plug drive from dead lappy into docking station.

New lappy will now read old drive.

Go make a glass of wine and feel proud of yourself. :D
