There was something on Facebook about a girl who travelled to meet a guy in Amsterdam and when she got there he revealed it was a joke and he was pulling a pig.

It's about how we see ourselves tho isn't it. People don't realise the damage that can be caused by comments, especially when you're at the age when your hormones are all over the place. It sticks too. Well, it did for a very long time, I'm cool now.

I think it's a very cruel thing to do, regardless of age/gender or anything else.

So, guys on stag do's, women on hen nights etc etc etc, don't play stupid games like this..... it can do far more damage than you can possibly comprehend, and I really do hope anyone that does this gets the shit kicked outta them.

In the story that has prompted this to be newsworthy, a woman travelled to Amsterdam to meet a guy she'd previously met on holiday only to be told on arrival she'd been "pranked" in this way - I can't begin to imagine how that must have made her feel.

Regardless of the distance travelled though even if it was just on a night out it's still disgusting behaviour that is beyond reprehensible.

This was a game we did 40 odd years ago...it was called "Poke a Pig" then.

We used to go out as a group and the guy who pulled in a club and had sex with the ugliest girl won.....

We were never mean to any person. And I can say it was hard work and very few of us actually succeeded. I had some of my best sexual experiences with them....."never judge a book by it's cover" was never truer in these encounters!!

It's not a new craze. It's been around since forever probably. A friend fell victim to it in a vanilla night club we were in years back.

A guy who was easily the best looking man came over to her, pulled her into his arms and snogged her face off. We all cheered thinking "you lucky bitch lol".

Later on outside the toilets, I saw that guy with him friends collecting cash from his friends. All laughing and saying vile things about my friend.

Turns out they bet him to pull the "ugliest girl" in the club and snog her infront of everyone. In his horrid group I heard and saw his friends say he'd won the bet. I was so disgusted and upset for my friend.

No i never told her what I heard and saw.

People can be so nasty for no reason. It's utterly shameful.

whats the difference between "pull a pig" and for example someone deliberately giving someone the wrong number after talking to someone. or a snog, or a one night stand...

because there is some degree of trying to humiliate someone ...

Whilst the term might not be familiar, it's not a new thing.

Apparently, this topic is based around a newspaper report about a girl who flew from the UK to Amsterdam to meet her lover. On arrival, he told her that it was all a scam and that she was the victim.

To be fair, from the photos printed in the newspaper, she is far from ugly and if she was prepared to travel so far to meet me, then I'd be quite chuffed to meet her.

It's totally despicable to allow someone to travel so far and spend so much money as part of a "wind up".

Then single guys wonder why women won't meet them?

I feel truly sorry for this girl, but dont understand why she chose to go to the press and broadcast this horrible experience to the whole world. Of course the guy in question has now denied everything and is making her out to be a nutter. Who would want to be famous for being part of pull-a-pig?! I get that she perhaps wanted to shame him but she's making the whole ordeal worse for herself surely? If I was treated like that I would just want to disappear quietly and lick my wounds and talk to my friends, rather than give interviews on national telly about it.

It's been going for years.

But I don't know why people are so surprised given the shallow, image obsessed society we live in today.

It's not a new craze. It's been around since forever probably. A friend fell victim to it in a vanilla night club we were in years back.

A guy who was easily the best looking man came over to her, pulled her into his arms and snogged her face off. We all cheered thinking "you lucky bitch lol".

Later on outside the toilets, I saw that guy with him friends collecting cash from his friends. All laughing and saying vile things about my friend.

No i never told her what I heard and saw.

Looking back, do you think you might have been a bit naive? I really don't know what logical thought process you had that led you to believe the "best looking guy in the club" had just had cupids arrow strike him the moment he laid eyes on "the ugliest girl in the club"? Unfortunately we live in the sort of society that parades the idea of trial by television. If you want to be a singer go on x-factor rather than sing in venues, like the last generation did. Wronged somehow, Jeremy Kyle might help, and the tabloids will probably throw a few grand at you for the story, you get your proverbial fifteen minutes of fame, and maybe 'justice' but at least your side of the story.

Not saying it was the right thing for her to do, but the option is another option to running home and licking your wounds.

It does make me sad though to know people can be so nasty - But unfortunately, you always have had these people and always will.

Although in this case, after meeting on holiday, having sex, and then continuing to lead her on for a while. Inviting her to visit and then only coming clean after she was left at the airport, it says a lot more about him than her.

I hope it doesn't have a devastating knock on her confidence...

When I was younger, it was things like this that used to make me so hostile towards guys when you were on a night out, and they would by-pass all the thin, attractive, half-naked ladies and come straight to me.

People always tried to assure me that, "in an area where "skinny" was the norm, my curves were attractive" and supposedly, I had a look of class

You'll always be suspicious though if you have low self-esteem, and I think something like this, had I have officially known, would have destroyed me.

It really isn't new. It's responsible for a lot of my issues with not accepting that some people will want to meet me.

Not because it's happened to me but because having been one of the lads for as long as I could remember it was something that would be discussed ( mostly when they thought I wasnt listening or paying attention) but it was/is a common thing.
