Well at the week end I got my motorbike nicked from out side a lady friends.

I should have had it chained up, it was laughable how easily they had it away.

Going to drop a ground anchor into the drive and leave a big chain there, she has suggested getting a security camera. My bro has some of the ring floodlight cameras they also do the video doorbells.

He rates them, they have a loudspeaker so you can shout at people when you see them and loads of other bells and whistles.

Anyone else have one or one of the competitors products.

I don't know about cctv but the are some very good and cheap tracker/alarms now. They take a phone sim and can message you as soon as the alarm is triggered and you can track it using your phone. Will find a link for you now.

Had cctv at my last place and will be getting it installed at the new one to. I've got security gates too but I'd recommend cameras to anyone. What you get really depends how much you want to spend but I'd say shop around, speak to a few installers and maybe even your local pcso

put a tracker on the bike ??????

put a camera on the bike linked to your phone , bit like a dash cam , catches the thief in action , hopefully enough to get a mugshot..

Unfortunately cheap trackers are easly blocked, the good ones use hf radio transmitters as well as the sim card as the radio signal is a lot harder to block...

Also if you leave the chain at hers, don't leave it outside when you are not using it...

Go for an IP camera. Prices range from £300 - £1200.

Big budget - Mobotix

Mid budget - Hikvision

Low budget - Fake camera!

Data storage is important. Some you can save to a SD card on the camera, others to network storage and/or the cloud.

Seriously thinking about a tracker, and as for the cameras quite like the netatmo cameras

Like the idea of it having a light plus the motion detection stuff can do face recognition and can descriminate between people cars and animals.

doorbell video only kicks in when someone rings it ?"

They do a version that’s not a bell but a floodlight again it’s not recording all the time but when the motion detection is triggered

This is one of the trackers i was looking at. https://youtu.be/Ixo3__f4cu0 There are lots of different versions/types on ebay some better than others. I can`t reccomend a specific one as i haven`t used them but there are a few forums that will guide you in the right direction.

They cost from about £20+ and features/setup varies. They also use a pay as you go sim so no monthly subscription. Some offer a subscription too for their tracking software but there are free alternatives.

As someone said, they arent as good as the proper trackers but they also arent £100`s and £20+ a month subscription.

This is one with more functions that i am going to get for my van. It is probably a bit big to install on a motorbike but the video gives you some idea of what is possible and there will be a more compact version for motorbikes.

I don`t know if the uk is or how it will affect the units so worth you looking into before you buy.

I have an alarm system at home, that has fobs and sensors.

My garden is covered by next doors cctv (by agreement) and I have ground anchors for my bike.

I was at a lady friends when my bike actually got nicked, I’m not sure if I’ll park the bike there again over night but if I do it’ll be chained and I’m going to put in a ground anchor.

Was considering installing a cctv camera overlooking her drive as it’s in a main road and there are a lot of knobheads (more than I realised) the people that make the ring Video Doorbells also do security cams with flood lights built in. They have motion detection and face recognition and can send alerts. Plus they have a two way speaker so if your not around you can shout at them or trigger an alarm
