WhatsApp number

Hey fabbers,

In a world where people are reluctant to give out personal details such email adress or mobile numbers, it makes me wonder why anyone would give out their WhatsApp number as that is your mobile number.

Or am I missing something?

Well I will give my number, cause I have nothing to hide. Others will give it cause its a burner phone.

Some prefer kik for this reason alone as it is username based.

I'm happy to whatsapp with people I know but won't give it out to strangers. I'm not overly bothered about privacy to the nth degree as I'm a single bloke with nothing to hide

Well, like anything else, it's all about how much you like and trust the other person. I only give it out to people I feel I can trust. It's only a phone number anyway. If things get weird you can always block their number. It's not like you're giving out state secrets.

I won't meet someone without exchanging numbers.

I like being able to ring when I get near to confirm house number etc.

But then again I have nothing to hide

I've been chatting to a Fabs member where things have turned sour after she rebuked him.

He is now trying to expose her and its going to affect custody of kids.

I know I can block their numbers if things get bad. But if things do go south then with my number they can trace me on FB and be a shit there too.

But agree with other posters about trusting them first

Just where I need to be.

I use WhatsApp with people that I trust.I use Kik with people that I chat to I don't want to be continually on fab.Sometimes it's easier to communicate outside of fab.

It's easier than giving out your personal number

My fab phone gets switched on and off as an when I please and I have no worries about people contacting me when I'm either out and about, chilling, with friends/family or sleeping

I call a couple daily

I don't need to trace them through Facebook to find out stuff, I'm better than that.

We don't use any separate things for fab. We don't give out our number we only use fab.

We have given out our number in the past but it's very very rare that we do. Even if we did neither of us have our number on Facebook so it wouldn't connect the 2.

We use WhatsApp, well, my (his) number. I don't have Facebook and can block contact. I'm not too concerned that they have my number, worse case scenario is they pester me with calls, texts, whatever from a different number which isn't going to affect me much tbh, it's contained at least. Oh, I have location services disabled and WhatsApp notifications disabled also, turn it on when needed.
