Doesn't time fly

I was actually shocked to realise just now I've been on Fab nearly a year, it feels like 5 minutes!

I'm sure this is a thing that the older you get the faster time seems to go or is it just me?

Yep it's not just a cliche time really does fly as we get older!

Or maybe everything just becomes a lot more predictable!

Dunno!

All I know is that we need to make the most of it x

There and to the left a bit

Nope I can remember when waiting for Xmas or a birthday seemed to take forever - nowadays they seem to come round every 5 minutes!! Definitely an age thing.

I once read a theory about why it seemed that way which made sense although an blowed if I can remember it now (another age thing )

Almost a year with this profile too

Apparently research has shown that older people percieve time as moving faster (or so Google tells me)

You're still a spring chicken, but yes time really does seem to fly by as you get older. And I was surprised the other day to realise we'd been on here a year x

And then it'll switch to "over a year ago" and stay there allowing you some dignity in how long you've really been on here forevermore!

This theory was a little more one depth than that - think it was along the lines that as kids we had a lot more free time to fill so time seemed to pass slower...

...or I could have just made that up!!

I think when you're young time goes slowly because your world is so small, you dont have responsibilities or enough to do at times to fill the day. You're also always looking towards the next big age milestone ~ 13,16,17,18,21....

When you're older it's the complete opposite, instead of wishing your life away your wishing for more time on a daily basis and for life in general...!

Locks Heath (Fareham borough)

'Time is an illusion, lunch time doubly so' (the late, great Douglas Adams).

Someone once postulated on a board I used to frequent that, as each year is a smaller percentage of the total time we have been alive than the previous year, time seems to travel faster each year. Somebody may be able to disprove that, but it seems to make sense.

Ardgay

One theory about the time perception differences between young and old is this.

When you are 5,then a month is a sixtieth of your existence

Whereas when you are 50 it is a six hundredth of your existence.

So a month of memories as a young child is around 2‰ of what you remember, whereas as an older adult it's up in the O.02‰ range.

I think it goes more slowly as a child because for example as a 10 year old 1 year is a tenth of your whole life you have lived, so it seems a relatively long time in relation to what you have experienced.

1 year when you are 100 years old is only one hundredth of what you have experienced so it seems a relatively short period of time.
