"With the recent shooting in the big Apple I was just thinking, they've had multiple presidents assasinated, multiple school/church/public place shooting. Over 200 fun related crimes thi year already What do you think it will take for they to ban guns?" It really is sad. An amendment in the Constitution that dates back to the late 1700's when it was deemed a necessary requirement for the bearing of arms. Look at what times where like back then in certain states in America. How can they still believe the amendment is a good thing today? Really, what would they be risking of they revoked it and banned the personal possession of firearms? Are they worried there would be riots? I don't think that's it at all. I think it's pressure from the firearms companies themselves that are the problem. Alas, all just opinion and assumptions but lives are being lost because of a countries inability to see what they need yo do, and do now!

"When the government/politicians/senators stop allowing the NRA to own them" Errrm I think you will find lots of them have fingers in the pie. Yearly income for the us from arms and ammunition sales. 40billion dollars. That's why it will never get stopped. What's the life of a few hundred incocent victims compared to the massive bonuses that company director's get. Don't forget also the NRA donated 30 million to trump's campaign fund last year. You see they are good people after all.

"Why would they ban guns? Someone mounted the kerb in UK and killed people, Someone mounted the kerb and killed people in New york. Did you call for a ban on vans/cars?" Something to do with over 15 000 gun related deaths in the US last year perhaps?

"Something to do with over 15 000 gun related deaths in the US last year perhaps?" I think there are more than 15,000 a year, but what does it matter? there are over 30,000 auto death a year in the US, these numbers sound big, but they have a huge population. The root of the problem is probably mental health care, and the fact they bomb have the world creating enemies everywhere.

"For example its illegal to sell or drink alcohol anyone under 21 yet 'Federal law prohibits licensed firearms dealers from selling a shotgun or rifle to anyone under 18, or handguns to anyone under 21. Still, some states impose minimum age limits that go below these federal limits. For instance, in Vermont, it's legal to sell a gun to anyone over 16years of age " There is nothing sinister about that. It's like in UK a young person can drive a tractor. In some places you need your kids to be able to shoot, for the protection of your livestock, to hunt, to survive. You simply can not wait for them to turn 18 to train them in guns.

" What do you think it will take for they to ban guns?" that bird has long long long flown..... all that you can do now is try to bring in sensible gun control... for example... this week they were suppose to have a debate on loosening up the law on gun silencers... that has been suspended if you think people moved because they heard the sound of gun fire... imagine how much worst it could of been if they had not been as much sound so simple questions... what type of guns do people need? how many guns does any one person need? how much ammo does one person need? background checks? all simple things.... but no one wants to do anything...

"Because its my god given right to own firearms and I use them to hunt and protect my family. If you think just by banning guns that will stop the killings you are an idiot people will always find a way to harm another person" No one said stop the killing it would reduce gun related deaths. America has very bad social problems etc etc which is the main problem. Check this out if you can be bothered I doubt it though as gun owning Americans don't like the truth! https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/10/2/16399418/us-gun-violence-statistics-maps-charts

"Guns will never be banned in the US. Culturally it's part of who Americans are. The 2nd amendment of our Constitution talks about the the "right to bear arms"; this actually refers to the right of each individual state to maintain an army. The gun lobby has used this to its advantage. Over time this state maintained army has become our National Guard. All that said, there should be better laws concerning who can buy one, what they can buy, waiting periods, background check, national database, etc." I couldn't agree more the problem is the wrong people can buy them off the street for a few hundred dollars illegally so it's really hard to do gun control

"I don't know why, but i have always looked on the American constitutional right to bear arms as a means for the American people to hold the federal government to account. In other words, if the Washington Elite was ever to pass laws that the American people as a whole would never agree to, then that elite can expect fully armed resistance to those laws." That was the original intent of the 2nd Amendment... As I say, the right to bear arms was designed to allow the States to maintain Citizen Militias as a 'shield' against the Federal Government. However, the 'America' as it existed at the time of the creation of the Bill of Rights bore little or no resemblance to the 'America' that now exists...
