They will not fly you back.

It's only for those already on holiday .

If you travel knowing your return flight is no more, sorry to sound horrible.

But that's just plain stupid.

If you booked thru and agent you should be able to get the cost of your FLIGHT refunded.

If you booked it yourself chances are you are out of pocket unless you had insurance.

Or you booked with a cc or PayPal.

Ps

Only know this coz they said on radio.

Check money saving expert website for help.

They WILL fly you back if your return flight is within 14 days of the AOC/ATOL being withdrawn.

I was flying to Portugal next Wednesday with Monarch, not now.

My holiday booking company refunded my money for flights and I have booked alternative flights, albeit it's costing a further £180 difference.

I'm now flying with Ryanair!!

Let's hope I've not jumped out the frying pan in to the fire

I don't think they should. You have had time to claim back the money and find alternative flights.

To fly out to s foreign country knowing you have no carrier to take you home is not an emergency situation.

Thats what ATOL protection is for. To protect your holiday Not just flights.

The sum of £2.50 is paid per person to atol from your package holiday, this money is to cover unforeseen circumstances like monarch going bankrupt.

So I feel I am entitled to my holiday and the c.a.a can repatriate me at no further cost to myself

I only hope for your sake that you are correct in what you have been advised

If I was in your position, I'd have booked elsewhere even at the last minute.

Yes, I hope you're right, but I would be surprised if they flew you back, as you are choosing to fly out knowing you have no return flight.

Yes but in cases where you have had time to find alternative flights ATOL allows you to claim a refund for the flights that monarch can't fulfil. It doesn't mean the CAA have to repatriate you of you choose to fly out knowing you have no way back.

The CAA's responsibility is to help those already stranded out in foreign countries.

People who turned up at Manchester airport on Monday were told to rebook flights and claim refunds under their ATOL protection because they had not yet left the country.... Why is this any different?

It's not... Basically if you haven't flown out yet your flight has been cancelled and you should not travel.

If you booked direct with monarch Airlines after 15th December 2016 then you are not ATOL protected and should contact card issuer/PayPal to find out how to claim a refund.

If you booked before with monarch Airlines before 14th December 2016 and have an ATOL certificate stating your flight is protected then you will receive information about a refund. Claim forms will be issued by the 11th October.

Holidays booked directly through monarch holidays are ATOL protected and again claim forms will be sent by 11th October. If you paid using a credit card you can claim a refund through them.

If you booked through a third party you need to contact them to discuss refund options.

Fairly clear. If you haven't left the country yet, organise another flight and claim a refund if you are protected by ATOL or through your card issuer/PayPal.

The only people the CAA are responsible for are those who were due to fly back to the UK who were already out of the country when the company went bust.

Thanks Evie, makes more sense now. Was wondering about the couple who are flying out with another airline and were due to fly back with Monarch. They think they will go out and CAA will repatriate them. Not sure if it works that way.
