Ok it's like this

We decided at work to hold the biggest coffee morning for the McMillan charity

And it was decided by them (ladies)

That the guys had to bake as well as it's only been them doing it past few years .....

Dilema , do I get the better half to do it and never hear the end of it

Or pop to Morrisons buy one and take off the wrapping

...... or do I have a bash and risk losing my self respect along with our kitchen

The only thing I know about self raising has nothing to do with baking

Have a go yourself. You can't go wrong with a classic Victoria Sponge. 4, 4, 4 & 8

I wouldn't do any of those options. I'd simply make sure i bought some cakes from the sale and gave extra money for them.

East Sussex

Just do some basic little cakes. Use 4oz self raising flour 4 of butter or margarine and 4 of caster sugar, add 2 eggs. Put all this in a big bowl and blast it with a hand held mixer. Spoon in to cake cases and cook at about 180 until brown. Buy some of those icing things and various sprinkly stuff. Stand back and bask in the glory.

Double up quantities for more cakes.

Sorry it's in imperial I have no idea of the metric measurements. If you want chocolate replace one tablespoon of flour with cocoa powder.

Try googling an easy recipe for something like a savoury Bacon and Cheese muffin.

Dead easy to make.

All you have to do is measure some ingredients, put them in a bowl, mix them together and put them in the oven for the necessary amount of time.

A tip: Check cake 10 minutes before recipe says is the end of cooking time. Different cookers cook differently

You don't even have to bake! Rocky road, bash up biscuits, throw in mini marshmallows, pour over melted chocolate stir up, put in a lined tray and chill. Bit of a sprinkling of icing sugar when it's chilled, jobs a good un!

The mighty Sox wins the thread again. The spirit of the event is far more important than the results. Unless they are like rocks
