couple, us we him her.

I have to learn how to chill out and relax stop stressing about everything and anything.

I literally over think everything I do,ok it occasionally pay's off .

But tbh it probably causes me more stress than not

Anyone else managed to beat overthinking and learned to just Go with the flow?

A good example is

Buying a New car.

I can't just decide to say I like this model or that.

It takes about 6 months of research going through litterly dozens of car's

Checking every statistic and review.

Then narrowing it down to two or three.

Then going over and over, what I have already read.

Only when I am completely satisfied that I am getting the best value, most reliable and trustworthy vehicle for our money will I consider it.

Honestly I have no idea how jools puts up with me, luckily she is my complete polar opposite and is so chilled out.

Otherwise I think she would have murdered me year's ago.lol

Perhaps we can start an over thinker support group.

For swinger's who overthink swinging?

We can sit down and chat about what could happen if we meet, and the hundreds of various scenarios that could Go wrong or right?

Obviously after we have spent 6 months deciding on an appropriate venue of course

Yes, but I am also good at telling myself to stop when necessary - or at least to mentally/emotionally step outside the overthinking and throw a little logical perspective on the thought so it doesn't end up consuming my imagination (for want of a better word). It's taken me time to be able to do that, but it makes me a much more chilled one. At least as far as anyone other than me can tell. I still allow myself an inertial thought wallow from time to time but the rational me steps in when needed to break the cycle.

"

I used to get stressed when I was younger. I still overthing things, but I can't stop my brain working the way it does. I distract it when I know I'm overthinking stuff I don't have power over. But normally, my overthinking serves me well. I can aply myself to something I've thought through etc. So yes, I kind of go with the flow but in my own way.

I like deep thinkers. I get along with overthinkers op.

We'd all be sat at home overthinking if attending a group is a good idea

Normally just before sleep my brain likes to think of everything that could or should have happened, been said or done that day or previous days.

I'm not a worrier as such though, more a ponderer

A few of my pathetic tips.

Only think in detail about things that you can control or are a direct threat to you.

What ifs will take you into another world if anxiety. Let someone else worry about then.

Keep a list of things you typically over think about. You mayou see a pattern emerge that requires a collective thought.

When all else fails, turn to wine!

Hiding in the shadows

I have ADHD my brain is constantly in fast forward mode, trying to process things, which ultimately leads to chaos.

I learnt making lists helps, once it's on paper it's out my head & I can stop over thinking issues

I used to be

I've calmed down now I think from a different perspective. You can only control what you do - so worrying about things beyond your control is a waste of energy

The opportunity cost of overthinking is impacting what you can control in a positive way

I definitely am - over think, over analyse and over rethink. Aaaaaaand very literal at times. Took me 10mins to just write this!

Her is much more instinctive, shoot from the hip. Sometimes impulsive, equally sometimes saves a huge amount of grief as gets to the answer several millennia before I do.

I think that's what makes us work well together - we balance each other out to a sensible medium. Not so much opposite attract, as best of both worlds.

Hmm

I'd love to say I'm not but the medication I'm on says otherwise.

Also reading this I'm now wondering if I am stressing too much about what I'm putting and overthinking if it's the right thing to do / say... /type.

And now overthinking about if I used the appropriate term for posting a thought... Shut up and click send boy!

Did it take you about 20 minutes to do this? Because you were choosing each word carefully, to ensure you have the perfect word, to explain precisely whay you want it to mean, in context, without possibility of misinterpretations?

And then proof read it several times?

Having to refocus after each sentance?

I do think that there is a certain wisdom in overthinking tho.

Let's face it great overthinkers in history are usually called philosophers so perhaps rather than being saddled with an over active thought process,we are blessed with a philosophical mind that carefully calculates and ponders the wonder's of the world?

That's one conclusion I am coming to anyway.

I'm sure I will be along soon with a different opinion.
