I think it just promotes rudeness.

When you see the adverts for all this home automation, no one ever says please or thank you. If people are like that, even if it is just speaking to a device, how long before it spills across into real life?

They don't though.

Both Alexa and the Google version listen for the keyword that activates the device. If the keyword isn't spoken then nothing is recorded.

Once the keyword is spoken then recording begins and that recording is sent out of your property to Amazon/Google for processing.

These recordings are kept but you have access to them and can remove them at any time.

"So do all these home appliances that can be turned on and off by Alexa require some kind of adaptation to allow the instruction .....? "

They're all devices hooked up to the Internet of Things.

I find Alexa pretty innocuous but some of the web-enabled devices are truly worrying due to a fairly lackadaisical approach to security.

A casino was hacked recently via a fishtank and I read about a petrochemical plant that had to be shut down due to a coffee machine.

They can also be hacked, so they then record 24/7.

Using keyword technology, criminals can find out info like when you are planning to go on holiday, if the house is empty between certain hours every day etc...

Whilst gadgets are useful, when executives advise a simple vacuum will map your home and could share the data to major providers, you wonder when breaching privacy should be a concern. The number of companies, organisation and apps that get hacked or start sharing data with users 'wondering' how this ever happened, leaves you thinking if technology is there to help or intrude in personal lives.

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/jul/25/roomba-maker-could-share-maps-users-homes-google-amazon-apple-irobot-robot-vacuum

"Roomba compatible with Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant in March, could reach a deal to sell its maps to one or more of the Big Three – Amazon, Apple and Google’s Alphabet"

"There’s an entire ecosystem of things and services that the smart home can deliver once you have a rich map of the home that the user has allowed to be shared" Colin Angle, iRobot’s boss

The second to last line in the above is quite a statement.

"Microchipping is real....and is inserted during vaccinations. Think about this.. every year the general public technology gets better the military industrial complex are 500 years ahead of the public.. so if we getting alexa. What have they got"

Do you have any evidence to support your claim?

I have had numerous vaccinations to allow me to travel and have yet to see any syringe large enough to fit a microchip in.

Also, a microchip requires a reader to be in very close proximity (as in a centimetre away) to be read. So unless the chip is being read any time I am scanned at the airport, nothing has scanned me.

There is also a finite limit to how much information can be stored on a chip. There is more information being collected by my smartwatch and phone than there would be from any secret implant.

If you think about a pet microchip, the only thing on there is the id of the chip. All the other information about the chip is on a database. Without a power source, the chip is passive.

"Microchips are tiny. Look up rfid chips. Is the future. "

They are not small enough to fit into a vaccination syringe.

I am well versed in rfid technology.

If you research further you will find limitations on data storage, antenna length and power sources. If you were able to miniaturise a power source for your rfid chip, so that it constantly recorded data, then transmitted it to an unknown datacentre, how long would the battery last?

What data is being recorded?

All the data!

Plus, you're thinking current tech. We're talking 500 years in the future tech. I imagine the chip draws power from your body some sort of micro piezoelectric system and writes data remotely using quantum entanglement.

The smallest chip to date is 0.15mm x 0.15mm and stores a preprogrammed number.

So all the chip will reveal when scanned is the chip ID. No different to scanning your fingerprints or facial recognition. The power is in the database that recognises the chip, not the chip itself.

Getting close enough to activate and read the chip is the issue.

If it isn't under your skin, where is it? In the heel of your shoe?

CCTV can place you anywhere. RFID technology cannot record your gps position. Police cannot scan you to find the chip and download the amount of gps data you are suggesting.

You have watched too many films or spend too much time on the wrong websites.

An absense of evidence is not evidence of a conspiracy.

Barry, surely they'd be using self-propelled nano tech then?

What with all the pollution in the air and sea people have a reasonably large amount of heavy metals in them anyway. Hiding some little nanobots in there (spread via chemtrails so doubt) would be fairly straight forward.

Once in there they could tinker with brain activity, adjust hormone levels, all sorts of fun stuff. Just waiting for their activation to turn us all into mindless zombies or whatever.

No need for RFID if they have future tech.

yes, ive just said its easily traceable! and very easy to find out if you are in one of the relatively few areas it is added. As for the reasons, they are also very transparently available..

Chemicals in water, such as flouride. True. No dispute there.

However it is not part of a Government conspiracy to dumb down the masses. Unless of course you are suggesting that "they" get their water purely from bottles.

24 hour surveillance. Between CCTV, smart phones (which we consent to use) and internet. True. Not by the State, but by multinationals that want to sell you things.

Secret microchips that monitor everything?

That is a step too far.

You clearly do not understand physics and technology if you believe that:

a. the technology exists on the scale you imagine.

b. "They" have already injected us with these chips and are running clever algorithms to sift our biometric data.

c. We wouldn't notice the data being extracted.

I'm not getting one as I dislike Amazon. I don't want them to absorb tons of data about me either, that will never disappear.

They're teaming up with Microsoft to provide broader search capabilities - probably aiming to increase their lead over Google

"Microchips are tiny. Look up rfid chips. Is the future.

"

I'm really not sure what the proposed scare story from the original poster I replied to leads to. I'm certainly happy with the medical evidence for fluoridated water.

As for the anti-vaccination and other scare stories, it's BS imo, though I have concerns about extensive data collection upon us all by corporations.

.

She hasn't been drinking it since she was a kid, fluorine is deadly but don't panic they don't put it in the water or toothpaste.

Fluoride has some good evidence to help stop tooth decay, however in large enough doses it really is quite bad for you hence why the amount in toothpaste is regulated.

Drinking it in water is probably less dangerous than showering in it, however I've never seen many studies looking into it.

It is banned in most of Europe though
