"Should he have been sacked ? "

Hard to say, without knowing the full story, but definitely should have been dealt with, correctly, at the time of the said 'inappropriate' behaviour.

Whatever it was, its historic and in most legal presidents there is a statute of limitation and it seems he is receiving retrograde punishment as excuse for the FA's inadequacy.....

From what I hear, he should never have been hired in the first place!

if half the stuff that is alledged he did whilst head coach at bristol academy is true, then there is no way he should have been appointed in the first place....

Yes hindsight is benefit we rarely get to use ....

I'd really like to hear what he has to say himself and to hear the view of the team he built ....

I don't think hindsight applies here. Someone has deliberately bent the rules to give him the job. But this type of thing isn't new for the England setup. The only difference is what's been done in secret has now come to light. The question is, will heads roll or will the good old boys carry on looking after each other?

Living in bristol and being involved in ladies football, mark Sampsons behaviour at bristol academy is the worst kept secret in ladies football. He should never have been hired in the first place his relationships with more than one girl was a safeguarding issue and a mis use of power. Hower I think the whole racism claims refuse to go away and the fa felt he was more hassle than he was worth and were looking for a way out. Yes he was Inapropriate and and should not have been given the job but feel the rasim bandwagon has gone a bit too far. Yes he made comments that were probably ill conceived and without being there it's hard to tell but I don't think the comments were of racist nature just poorly judged banter.

Many women coaches are in relationships with players but that's ok.

It's depends on the situation and how the relationship came about. These were young impressionable girls desperate to make thier way into professional football. The relationships were frequent and short lived had they been less frequent and longer lasting relationships then the situation would not seem as bad. Also he used to accompany the girls on nights out in town and at least one of the relationships took place whilst he was in a relationship with the soon to me mother of his child so no I would not say it's ok.

I do actually. The evidence presented today, and the statement from the FA make it clear that there was evidence of wrong doing on Sampson’s behalf on more than one occasion. As such to say that the racism bandwagon has gone too far strikes me as somewhat daft.

The FA calling the remarks they now accept he made as ‘ill judged attempts at humour’ is even worse .

What concerns me even more is the fact that the recommendation that would have been made had Sampson still been in post at the conclusion of the most recent investigation was attendance at a course on equality and diversity in the work place

The man clearly has no respect for, or understanding of, boundaries and has no place in a leadership role, or any role that requires trust and understanding

I agree with your last paragraph however that still does not constitute rasism yes it was a awful comment and not at all considered however at the time I think there was a Ebola out break in her parents country. Had the player been coming from Yorkshire which had also happened to be having the same problems I think he would have made the same comments. Would that then have been racist or discrimination ? It was awful choice of subject Mayer and should not have been said but I stand by my opinion and respect yours it's just a emotive subjective people often disagree on. His comments to the other girl should also be understood in the context and which they were said. They were not just a off the cuff comment they were said in the context of a team talk about bookings.

It was accepted by the investigator that he made comments considered to be ‘discriminatory on the grounds of race’ and also that he treated Aluko ‘less favourably than he would someone not of African descent’ on more than one occasion. Not sure what your definition of a witch hunt is, but the above doesn’t fit my criteria

The irony of this comment coming from a man who on his profile is cheating or looking to cheat on his wife is actually very comical on that basis should you not be considered for certain roles ?

I’m not sure that cheating in my personal life and being proven to be acting in a discriminatory manner in one role, and abusing a position of power in another in a professional career are in any way comparable.

That said, as my profile clearly notes, I am no longer with my wife and free to do as I chose.

Erm wouldn't 'accepted' = proven?!

It looks to me that the FA had hoped they could get rid of him and at the same time some broader issues could then be swept under the carpet.

Their problem is that people are now taking a good look under the carpet, and the floorboards.

Proof means , proven.

You are obsessed with this notion of female coaches sleeping with players for some reason. I’m intrigued to know why.

It was felt that her story, as well as that of Drew Spence, could be corroborated after speaking to witnesses that were not part of the intial investigation or the internal review.

The basis of guilt, or burden of proof, in such instances is based on the balance of probabilities and as such the accusations have been ‘proven’ as much as they need to be in a civil matter.

Have you seen all the women auditioning for roles in Weinstein/Hollywood movies? Hardly the reaction on an (alleged) rapist within an institutionally sexist/misogynistic industry leading them

Sampson had a rapport with his some of his players, a bit of banter with some (appropriate or otherwise) and extras with others. How you react to someone doesn’t tell me what I need to know about their character
