Kilt to a party/event

we all like to dress to impress to stand out a little be it male or female when we attend a party or event.

my question to the masses, is it "too" much if a guy wears a kilt? is that too much of a " look at me ,look at me" or would it be a welcome surprise to some?

Scottish Man living in South England, so hoping it would be a surprise,

Don't think it's too much at all OP - if it's what you're comfortable in and is a dress up type of event.

Have been to many works do's and the odd wedding where people have worn kilts - at the end of the day it's no different from any other evening wear.

Have even seen them on occasion in clubs.

i have no worries wearing anywhere else, BUT wasn't sure if its " over dressed" for a gent at a casual/smart club,

I (Dave) regularly wear kilts - all black though, as I'm English and not entitled to wear tartan.

there are tartans that ANYONE can wear so dont worry about being limited to only black. thanks for the message and well done, ( but do you wear anything underneath? being english )

i regularly wear a plain black utility kilt to my local club.....and have kilt envy at Dave above's kilts

and no, i don't wear anything under it...unless i'm working...a few thousand people don't want to see my nads as i push stuff across stage

I have worn a Kilt to several events, both in the UK and Germany, each time it was a great ice breaker and led to some nice liasons.

Wearing mine to meets and socials too many men don't try looking smart hope to catch someones eye and it helps me stand out from the crowd! I know people have noticed me and it helps break the ice to!

As it happens I never wear anything under a kilt.

In fact I'll be wearing one with a rainbow flag on the front at Lincoln Pride on Saturday

I wear my kilt to clubs, it has its advantages not least it's way easier to removed than trousers and always gets a positive response. If people think "it;s too much" that's thir problem, wear it for you and focus on those that appreciate it!

As a side point I went and flied to Hamburg from Manchester, a week or so ago in my kilt got a few looks on our side but wow the Germans loved it!

Very well, lots of attention, lots of ice breakers.... slightly on the heavy side to lift for "quick access" but full removal fast enough... was a good experience.... although will probably go smart dress for next party.... less to worry about...
