So yesterday I got speaking to someone on here who was fairly new, and "she" was interested in seeing me etc, so we accepted the friend requests and would not send a photo unless it was Snapchat.

Fine, I added "her" on Snapchat, to the surprise the Snap iD suggested she was born in 1986 (D****e1986) - I've hidden the middle letters to hide the name fully. 1986 isn't a problem for me, 30/31 is nowhere near too old, however the fact it said she was 24 on her profile concerned me.

I asked for a photo from them which I eventually got after them stalking, and it was sent in a private message on Snapchat, and not live, nor did it look anywhere near 24 years old, never mind 30/31... it had clearly been stolen from Instagram or somewhere else, and I asked (more hopeful than anything) for a live photo as proof. They said not until you do your task...which I obviously refused. I then messaged back and said I'd be reporting them to Fab and potentially the police (small threat) for impersonating and using someone else's images.

Blocked on Snapchat. Blocked and user profile removed within minutes on fab.

I just wondered what the law is regarding this? Can I report this somewhere on here? This is ridiculous that it can happen so easily, and luckily I'm cautious and careful, I know many guys follow their dicks rather than their head and therefore may not have noticed. Pretty sure I don't feel safe now, as in order to get proof from genuine women, they don't like getting asked.

Snapchat has nothing to do with Fab so no, it's pointless reporting it here.

Oh you mean Fab doesn't own Snapchat? Well shit...

It's nothing to do with that. It's someone impersonating someone on Fab to start with is the point. That can't be happening in our community.

It is illegal impersonating someone else using their photos? Especially a youngish girl.

It's worth reporting anything that happens on Fab but if the profiles gone you've no longer got anything to report or any evidence.

I'm not sure how the law stands off Fab. It depends on the type of picture I think and the extent of the impersonation.

Its wise to keep all communication on Fab in my opinion.

They are scammers that are all over the net. They want you to go straight off the site onto snapchat etc and then once you show them want they want to see, they bribe ( can't use the real word but it begins with b and ends in mail) you.

Never fall for it on here and report instead as Admin boot them off

I think it’s called Catfishing

Forget about it and move on, bigger things in the world to worry about.

If you reported every fake profile on here you would probably blow the server.

Here is an explanation from Admin from another thread on how they deal with reports.

******Just a quick note. If people report others and we can verify that they have broken site rules, we always take action (either a first and final warning, partially suspended account, fully suspended, mixture of the above).

Every single report sent via the REPORT link is reviewed. Clearly it's not in our interests to have people on here who are bad for the site. Equally we need to verify what has been reported and be fair to those who have been reported.

Admin

PS. we never provide feedback on what has happened. It's just not practical given that we get 100s of reports a day.

Here is what the page says after a report has been submitted:

--

Your feedback has been saved.

A website admin will shortly review your feedback and take the necessary action. After reviewing the evidence available to us, we may disable an account, remove a user, disable certain aspects of that user's account or issue a warning.

By leaving feedback you help improve the site for everyone who uses it. Thank you.******
