Separate Holidays

Me and the other half have zero interest in holidaying without each other. We enjoy each others company and the thought of being separated for long periods doesn't appeal to us in the slightest.

Out of curiosity, do you have separate holidays away from your spouse/life partner?

I wouldnt want to go on holiday without my hubby, i like his company. But if i really wanted to go somewhere and he didnt, then i would go on my own.

20 months is an awfully long time to be strolling around in a mankini

No way would we go on holiday without each other! We work together, live together and pretty much do everything together! He's my best mate and we love being together all the time, and have been for 22 years, we've known each other for 36! Maybe that's why we like to play sep room? Lol

Because my other half works almost solidly between August and May it often means I have holidays and breaks without him.

Late next week we are off to Spain together for Five days as there is a short break in his work schedule, but then I am on to Ibiza on the ferry.....alone, staying with friends.

no matter

we havent holidayed together since 2001. he merrily tootles off to florida once or twice a year . I stay home and look after animals.. I last had a holiday 2008. was toying with idea of a week in cyprus in two weeks time I expect i will stay home .. such is my apathy to holiday alone.

i don't do sea and sand holidays so it's best for us to have seperate holidays

beaches, swimming pools, sitting round reading do nothing to relax me for more than a couple of hours, yet my other half would quite happily take two books and sit round a pool for a fortnight.

therefore seperate holidays are almost a 'must'

IMHO, and please bear in mind I have been there, done that, go the T-shirt etc., looking back, my ex-hubby and I started to drift apart big time when we decided to take separate holidays.

We were chalk and cheese to start with, and have very different holiday styles that are not compatible with each other.

The last straw came when I nearly drove off and left him in Italy on the return leg of a road trip.

From then onwards, I decided never to go on holiday with him again except for "duty calls" like family events.

A year or so down the line, my path crossed my late partner's, resulted in two broken marriages.

I think it depends on how strong a relationship is to start with....

Kate's been abroad on holiday with her friends while I've stayed home, on a few occaisions.

I've had short breaks away too while she stayed home.

OH and I have had separate holidays in the past, not often mind... but found them not to be anywhere near as much fun as we thought... so decided to spend those precious weeks together

I wouldn't rule out a separate holiday but only if I wanted to go and see the folks and he didn't want to come.

Was away from him at Christmas and missed him so much, but made the home coming worthwhile

To be honest I wouldn't if the other half didn't work such a ridiculous schedule....still this is his last season so soon we will be back to normal.

We have done seperate ones this year but are booked to go away together in January. I would expect that J will be away after Christamas as her plce closes down and for me it is a very busy week. I like the fact we have seperate things planned this year and didn't cancel as it effectively sets a precedent that is the norm. While there are things we want to share, conversely there are things oin our lives that the other isn't interested in.

I don't see as seperate holidays would be anything weird?

In nearly 25 years of marriage my ex-husband and I had one holiday together with the kids as he didn't like to fly, stay in hotels etc but the year before I left we had a week in Yorkshire. The kids loved it I hated every second.

I left on 25 April, the next day he went to visit his mum...in Jamaica!
