Why do older men wear smaller pants???

Just noticed a growing trend and as the age goes up the pant size goes down and the belly size geometrically increases. Is this something to do with Tom Jones or another phenomena entireely?

yh and a lot of people get to a certain age and wear beige and lots of it my daughter calls them the beige brigade.

dunno about underwear most guys i see are younger and a lot go commando. they do however wear trousers that come right up over their increasing waistline.
