Hacking accounts

I sometimes see statuses about people's accounts being hacked. Is this a fairly easy thing to do for someone with a bit of tech knowledge?

I often get looked at by people from Lincoln and the other day when I went online, I searched for people close by and apparently I was in the Lincoln area until it updated to where I was.

Scary!

Depends how good at guessing passwords you are.

Some numptys just use the word password as there password, I mean how daf.....

This kinds of "hacks" aren't really Hacks most of the time... most forums accounts get breached because the owners Facebook account has been breached.

Once in a Facebook account they have your email address, far too many people use the same password for everything, and presto... they've got into everything tied to that email address.

Moral of the story, mix up your passwords folks

And also people having super easy passwords and sharing their email address

Having the same password for most things, is not that bad, as long you make sure it's impossible (almost) to guess. The important things like banking etc should have different passwords though, in case you get hacked for real

facebook hide the email you used, and although it's not impossible to guess someones email it can be hard. everything you access using facebook login is yours for the taking now though, as is their friendslist.

getting someones email you can change their passwords to everything and accessstuff that way. even deleting the evidence of doing that.

i do think most people who get hacked on sites like this, where the person hacking wouldn't actually gain anything from doing that, haven't actually been hacked at all. they probably just had someone piss about with their phone or admin changed something on their account so they think they were hacked.
