..Are the people who send them too lazy to put a personal touch to a message they send?

Are the people who send them just casting out numerous lines to profiles to reel as many people in as they can?

Or is it just me? lol

The thing is....when you get a message from another member, how do you know it's cut and paste?

In some instances I have had mails that say I read your profile and loved the pics - when I havent had any pics posted. Or They completely forget to change the wording after sending it to couples. Also one bloke wrote and his prepared piece said reading your interests I see we are both after the same thing and I don't have any interests selected.

Then there are those who just cut and paste their entire profile!

can understand why some would do a copy paste if its a message mostly about them and what they want.

most fall on deaf ears so not so much of a wasted effort. pics are usually what seal the deal anyway

Copy and paste is a turn off for it means they have not read my profile and are therefore, indiscriminate in their choices. I want to be approached because there is something (anything) specific to my profile, my pictures, my wit or lack of... that makes me unique... so copy and paste will be greeted with polite, "Thanks for mailing me but we are looking for different things" (not copied and pasted btw as the message does vary

personally ive never copied n pasted, but yes ive sent the same message if u get my meaning?

intitial messages sometimes mean fuck all...its the follow up conversations to watch out for...i mean example, Great first message(guys been up all nite )and his following messages are just utter shite?

way i work it is IF u are interested peek inside, jumping on a cover image or message just shoots urself in the foot really to potential meets, well thats just my opinion of course-

and maybe to those whod rather not recieve generic messages, state that ON ur profile

Agreed and I totally get that, and I am referring more to the cut and pastes that are clearly not referencing at all the profile they are trying to attract, and worse still the ones that are blatantly showing the sender has not read teh profile, e.g. when the profile states in clear letters that the age range is not negotioable...

Or saying how they 'd love to visit you and shag you all night in your own home... when you clearly cannot accommodate

never sent a cut and paste message, never recieved one ha so cant comment , but i can understand the frustration and the fact that as you say it makes the person seem as if they just casting a net out and seeing who swims into it

I think you are reading the "hi you two" bit wrong... It's not aimed at previous couples and left unchanged.... It's aimed at your tits

Or they write via a forum post saying they'd like to (add sexual act) so show my profile and pics and let's knock boots!

Or you are sat on the sofa with your best mate and you both get the same message at the same time... it does happen... with pretty much every message we get!

Some people really do have no imagination! Sometimes we even get each other's mail!

Oh I had a very obvious one last night, and the abuse I got when I pointed it out as a piece of advise was unbelievable!

Needless to say, he is no longer a member tonight, any ideas why???? Just waiting for the new profile to appear

and the sparring to begin again

I've had several C & P messages and can spot them straight away. Such obvious slip ups as already mentioned above.

I did get one that admitted it was a C & P though and explained that he found it so disheartening when sending long messages about him self to just see them deleted and no reply.

I did reply to him and while he wasn't my type, we chatted a bit so the honesty was worth it.

I was going to have a little rant on this but after reading everyone's comments I'm inclined to agree. It seems odd that someone would message without referencing what they have just read, supposedly, in a profile.

Thing is there's nothing wrong with C & P per se. It's unreasonable to expect totally rewritten, original, commentary from every message, but it seems strange that the writer not only doesn't read your text but also doesn't read there own.

Thing is where do you draw the line? No cut and paste, no one liners, no winks, no friend invites. There are fewer and fewer options. How else do you make that first contact to show interest?
