"I think you've picked the best time to go! Went 5 years in a row in Oct half term, the autumn colours are stunningly beautiful. Derwent Water for me is the prettiest, and Keswick is a lovely town. Enjoy, I'm quite jealous!" Iv done a little research and ha e decided to stay in Keswick. 1 night in a hostel and the other night a hotel. The hotel is on Derwent water

Windermere/Bowness can resemble Blackpool at times, but the Northern lakes Derwent/Ullswater etc, is less touristy, more scenic.
