The best suit

I find myself in need of a new suit and am looking for ideas.

I tend go with double breasted wool and always get my suit fitted. I know what brands etc I like but open to new suggestions.

So FAB help me find a new suit

If that's your obly suit, then stick to classic single breasted 3 button suit, much more versatile and doesn't look outdated

Yeah thanks , that is a good suit. I am getting with research that a single breasted, single button suit may be the way to go

Go with either charcoal grey or navy, stay clear from black. Many professions like chauffeur, door man etc wear black suits. Black is usually worn at very formal events, but then you'd go for either black tie, morning dress or white tie. Also charcoal grey and navy would work with wider variety of shirt/tie/pocket square colors. It's good you're getting it fitted, fit is the most important aspect of good suit.

Colour is something quite tricky as this is a suit primarily for work.

Have a look around, I bought one from TM Lewin that was treble the price my dad did from Ted Baker at Cheshire Oaks. He also bought an Austin Reed which was again probably off the peg but nothing more than £120 in the sale. If you're sized correctly and the wools good there's little difference between them unless you're paying for one off construction I'd say. Having arms or trousers tailored costs nothing if you want to do that.

Beyond the shadows.

For someone of your height and shape I'd say go with a three button single breasted silhouette suit. charcoal grey or navy maybe.

Agreed

I have a 3 piece black suit, but only wear it on special or formal occasions. For example charity event or gala dinner.

You can look very dapper in suits... just like the men above do in their pics!

OP whatever you decide see if you can *upload* a pic on your profile not post (got that wrong in previous attempt). Will be interesting to see what your choice will be. I may even upload one of me in my 3 piece suit... nah I aint that brave!!
