Is it possible to haggle over the price of something in a high street store, or is it difficult because the staff dont tend to be allowed to to drop prices of things?

yes yes yes, some will knock minimum 2.5% of if you pay cash as the price is marked up to cover the cost of credit card transactions.

Speak to a senior assistant you can get all sorts of deals

Got currys to waver the delivery fee as they actually wanted 2 x £30 cause there was two items ended up getting free delivery.

As you say lots of freebies, whats the worst they can do if you ask is just say no

.

Was looking at a tv, told htem it was £200 cheaper on line. Tney said well you can take it away today. I said for £200 I would wait.

Asked me which site, I said Currys.

I was in a Currys store

Said they would match the price, showed them the pound notes and then told them I Also wanted a tv for the kitchen, got extra discount and wall brackets etc

On the other hand I once went into a shop for a vase and came out with a corner sofa and two rugs. So salespeople can spot the easily persuaded too lol.

One word "Yes"

All prices are negotiable but I'd not put a bet on you haggling with a trolly of shopping at Asda lol

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Was in Vodafone last week, saw an employee give a free accessory and a discount on phone after the price had been agreed - effectively turned down £30 revenue.

Odd...
