Home decorating faux-pas - what do you hate?

An old school friend has posted loads of photos today on Facebook of her newly decorated home.

In every single room they have those bloody awful wall stickers with "inspirational" sayings on them.... "don't dream your life, live your dreams" kind of stuff. These have always made me do an inner eye roll when I see them!

Even in the little downstairs loo they have "Laugh Love Live" on the wall

Please share your horror stories of wall stickers, or other home decorating things you detest? To cheer up a rainy Monday! Xx

I too, am no fan of those slogan thingies. I bet they ignore those suggestions every single day even though its plastered all over the walls to remind them to do it.

As a child I use to plaster stickers all over my bed post, wardrobe and anywhere it would fit.

Now I'm older I despise any kind of stickers. It makes the place look cheap and nasty.

But I have a real hatred for those little knick-knacks plastered all over the house. Little ornaments that just waste space. Clutter in my opinion.

Flat wallpaper on uneven walls ,,,,, and textured wall paper on uneven walls ...

Gloss paint .... badly applied gloss paint .... any interior decoration where no preparation has taken place before applying the finish ....

I arbore most peoples taste,,,,,

But then again I have perfect taste so I'll just have to live with that ....

True, the brown staining is testament to that fact.

Wallpaper that isn't hung properly.

My last partner put up black wallpaper on the feature wall in our bedroom. Only there was a white join mark. He had to go over the join mark with a black felt tip pen.

I was never satisfied in that bedroom again!

Oh Jesus that would drive me bonkers

My best friend has a wallpaper-adjoining-gap in her lounge that I frown at every time I go round there

"in my bedroom i have 'love is a beautifully designed lie'."

Good quote, but I'm afraid any quote in sticker-on-wall format is unacceptable in my book

My cousin has those god awful quotes everywhere

"This kitchen is for dancing" - no it's fucking not its for cooking food in and you can't even swing a cat in there it's that small!!

"Live every moment" is on her living room. This one sits behind her while she's wastes her life watching soaps and Xfactor.

Feature walls ... Aka an odd roll of red black or silver

96inch telly .. Large telly in general in a tiny room

Word ornaments... Spelling out

Bath in bathroom etc

Badly fitted laminate

Giant sofas that leave no room

Curtains that don't close

Sensor lighting on rooflines that glare into houses opposite like an airport
