She's written a brand new book, 'The World According to Joan', in which she shares her thoughts on everything from parenting to glamour, ageing and travel.
And its clear that Joan Collins, 78 doesn't believe in holding back .
Joan says she feels increasingly out of step and she's decided it's time to speak out.
Loathe fat people?
"They are digging their graves with their own teeth. I think to be terribly overweight is incredibly unhealthy. And how do they get into a tiny lavatory on a plane. I feel sorry for them, I do."
Joan sets the world to rights on a range of subjects from actresses who use Botox, modern men and the obesity epidemic.
She says that actresses who use Botox have "pillow lips and eyes like tiny pits in a marshmallow cloud", calls rich men "mean and controlling" and worries about the uselessness of modern men.
But she's happy to talk about her relationship with her husband Percy, who is 32 years her junior.
"Of course we have sex," she says. "We have a very good life in all respects. We are friends, we are lovers, we are compatriots, partners in crime. Yes, there is a diminution in sexual desire as you get older.
"In your 30s our hormones are raging a lot more than they are in your 70s.
"But I think it's over-rated, doing it 18 times a week anyway, don't you? I think that's a male fantasy, not a female one."
She adds, "Sex does get better as you get older, and obviously, one is not living a celibate life when one is married to a gorgeous 45-year-old South American."
With her outspoken views on politics, manners and the need for women to wear nicer clothes, Joan's book isn't going to be popular with everyone - but she doesn't seem to care.
I have looked up to her for years but now reading how she feel about bigger people .. I find it very sad as i know not all people who are big sit around eating all day .. For some its others things. She dont seem to care if she hurts peoples feelings and i dont like that. |
Joan's entitled to her opinions, just as we are entitled to ours, but let's not forget that she's promoting a book, so it's not really surprising that she's aired a few of her more "biting" views.
