Hey fabbers!!

So, I constantly see this on profiles, "don't just put hey" or "how are you" etc etc.. for us single guys on here writing "imaginative" and long winded messages is incredibly time consuming and tedious to say the least. To be completely ignored and deleted..

For every ten messages I will send I'm likely to get 1-2 replies, most can't even be bothered to send a simple "no thanks" I'm just ranting a bit here but a simple "hello, how are you" is a quick an simple way to show you are interested in that person and catch the eye is it not? Rant rant rant I'll get back to work now!

The problem is that for every 10 messages that men send, a woman might receive 100 messages and replying to them is frankly impossible. If you've got a 20% reply rate you're doing well.

Hmm it's a tough one. A "hi" message is an instant delete unless the profile is amazing or they've attached a pic too good to ignore.

A good message is more likely to catch my attention, but the profile and pics also have to attract me or I'll just send a "no thanks" reply.

Its complicated!

Yeah I get that. It's just frustrating spending ten minutes writing a well worded, imaginative message for it to be instantly deleted x20

Would a "hi I would love to bend you over and eat your ass" message be more appropriate?

You could always carefully word a generic message and then copy and paste it.

Just make ammendments based on the profile you are contacting.

Personally, I contact so few that I have all the time in the world to compose an eloquent but equally unsuccessful greeting.

I have similar lines on my profile.

I appreciate how hard it is for single guys on here, and I will always reply to any messages that is well written, even if it's to say I'm not intrested.

But I will also instantly delete ones that are not.

I'd never get anything done everyday if I replied to everyone I received, plus the subsequent "give me a chance" messages that often follow

As soon as I send a message I delete it, if I get a reply it's a bonus and if not, I don't worry about it. I know it's frustrating but that's the reality

Its all about matching your expectations to the reality of your experience....

If you already know that statistically you will receive a disproportionally response you've just got to suck it up.....

When i first joined i would enthusiastically fire off what i thought were intelligent, witty and relevant messages only to receive few replies in return. I found that very time consuming and more than a little frustrating so now i just sit back and let the lovely ladies of fab come to me instead.

That doesn't seem to be working either.

Prepare something about yourself but personalise it to the person you're meeting by reading their profile. You don't have to write much to stick out. A paragraph is much less than one line. Two paragraphs is a veritable book festival.

Very true OP. But when you get hundreds of messages along the same lines, it just becomes part of the endless droll messages that females get. It is Russian roulette with making an effort. I can see why you'd want to just send a basic and boring one. A more thought out one, will get noticed more though and may catch the attention of someone you fancy

No. It isn't a simple way to show interest. It's a question. The question requires an answer. You are using a MESSAGE system not a CHAT system. The recipient might not be online. One day later they say ..... Fine thanks. What naff Q would you ask next ? Howz ur day been ? ...........

You get the idea it'd take forever to get to your name. Try something like this.

Hi, saw your profile and I am interested so far. If you read my profile and feel you want to know more about me message me for a chat online or by phone.

Thanks.

Now copy that and keep it in a file. Copy and paste it every time and it takes you NO time to make contacts.

You can pay me later.

As soon as I send a message I delete it, if I get a reply it's a bonus and if not, I don't worry about it. I know it's frustrating but that's the reality "

I do that too. If they reply, great. If not.... Next!

Ahh the old Fab conundrum! "Hi how are you" may seem the easiest way but when you get 50+ a day saying the EXACT same thing, it can be a bit of a grind! And just for the record, i always send a "no thanks" reply if i am not interested, unless the messages are stupid/crude...then its just a blank!

OP out i the real world "hi, how are you?" works great because you have non verbal communication too. The problem with fab is you need to try and get something more across in your message because all you have is the words on a screen and your profile pics and text.

If I have 100 "hi, how are you" messages what would make me choose to reply to you rather than one of the other 99? This is where the well thought out message means you stand apart from the crowd.

If you are spending too long on here messaging and getting no replies I would suggest sending fewer messages. Instead of contacting everyone in your area try just picking out the ones who you really like the look of. Be a bit more selective and concentrate on sending great messages to the people who really appeal to you.

If all you send is 'hello, how are you' messages you'd better have a bloody great profile and even better pictures otherwise sorry you can't complain about non replies!

There's no need to spend ten minutes on a message, but just a simple something saying who you are, and why you're contacting them. For example.

I was just browsing through some local profiles and found yours. I'm a big fan of (interesting item from profile) and it seems that we'd probably get on.

The fact that you guys message all these women in the hope of a bite baffles me. Why do you bow to anyone's profile demands? Are you really that needy?

If a couple or a female like me, they can make the connection. The chances are that I'm appearing in their local contacts and they've viewed my profile several times. If they haven't messaged me by now they are probably not interested.... That's all the info I need.

Just to point out I rarely receive a well thought out message but plenty of "fancy a fuck" messages.. So it isn't just the guys.
