So I finished my relationship with ex 6 years ago after a 19 year relationship that was quite unpleasant to say the least....and yesterday he died from his alcohol abuse....aged 51...leaving our three kids devasted...how angry I am at him for still hurting them and so very sad I can't fix this for them...emotions all over the place....

I know words can't change things, I wish they could. I don't really know what to say. I can 100% understand you're gonna have a shit ton of emotion and frustration flying about, and it's nothing but natural.

It's wank and annoying as fuck and head messing when they still impact on your life even after the relationship is over.

I ain't got the answers but I do have a listening ear.

My ex is on the verge of the same thing.

The only thing good to come from it as our son has seen the effects of severe alcoholism and witnessed the abuse I received from him.

You and your kids have my full sympathy and support.

You will get through it and your kids will understand eventually.

Sx

Good luck through what must be a very difficult period.

I hope in time you all get over this and thrive in life.

Addiction is such a terrible thing.

You're their mum. You can fix it for them just by being there.

There are no words that will make your anger pain and sadness go away. It takes time....lots of time and being able to be kind to yourself.

Try not to be angry for what has gone it cannot be changed its the part...yohr children no matter what their ages they need you as you need them. Hold each other close there is no answer nothing that makes the past better nothing that makes the pain less....

But there is a future where things do get better brighter happier... slowly ...one day at a time...look to it and you will find it...

OK I'm sorry for your loss and hope you and your family find your peace...

So sorry your children and you are going through this. It's awful the pain an ex and supposed adult can inflict on you all even from a distance. Lots of hugs to you all x

You are probably better talking to friends, family, a Dr or councillors than people on the internet if you need to talk about the issues about alcohol abuse. No offence meant.

This is a really unhelpful comment. We are a supportive forum and the OP was looking for some positive strokes, not to be told to go gets therapist

I appreciate your response and I am fully aware of my responsibilities....am an educated woman and loving mother and have a professional job as well as a qualified counsellor....i was merely expressing my confusing feelings to a forum I have found supportive and this place is not just a sex site but a place full of lovely people with a plethora of experiences and kind words....and I thank everyone for that q

We just want to protect our children from harm or hurt don't we? Bad things happen and unfortunately children experience this like the rest of us. I'm sure you are aware that there is support out there for them and you, try to access that when you're ready. It really does help. My heart goes out to you. It's a difficult time xx

I'm sorry I don't have some way of helping, but I'm very sorry for everything that you are feeling, and at least they have you to look after them. Sometimes things feel absolutely terrible, but as I have said to myself many times, this feeling too will pass.
