"An old friend is a mechanic and he once told me when you find a good one, treat them well, because they're worth their weight in rhodium. I take the same approach to tradespeople, because FFS, WTF? I had 3 different guys out to my boiler but none of them could get past the first sharp intake of breath to reveal their complete lack of knowledge of electronic doodahs inside. One guy said I'd have to wait until the intermittant fault became a full-blown one, then left after using my bathroom. Five minutes later I spotted a stream pouring from below my cistern. It appeared he'd loosened a wingnut to create a leak, which I figured he hoped I'd call his company to send him back to fix. The muppet gave it too many turns and made it blatantly obvious he'd done it. I found an amazing guy to fix my fault eventually and he could seriously get some if he wanted. He was too busy once so when he did come round, he did the job for nothing but I gave him his usual fee, because he's pure rhodium and I don't want him to leave me." I have a mate who normally does my plumbing work but he's booked up doing a contract until mid November and there's no point asking him to let an existing customer down because he just won't | |||
