I do t get to read much, but on holiday I took a book along (recommended from a fabber)

But realised, I'm

A fan of Stephen King, but his books are a chore to read sometimes. Not the length but how big and heavy they are.

A paperback is/was easier to read.

So, 1984 George Orwell. I really enjoyed it.

What was your last book you read, and do you choose paperback or hardback when traveling?

I can't read what I deem to be a bad book. I can't physically bring myself to get through it. Last book I read was Graham Hancock's Fingerprints of the Gods. That was a mighty read. Just limbering for the sequel which isn't quite as sizeable.

I'm currently into an account of the Battle of Britain, along with Guy Gibsons 'Enemy coast ahead' ( i tend to read a couple of titles at a time).

Crap books? I read the poor attempt at a revival of Larssons 'millennium trilogy' the girl in the spiders web. That was awful.

My last holiday I read gunslinger/dark tower (the very first book.) I was going to catch up with those sometimes, but the hype of a film has put me off.

Thats one thing I can't do is read multiple books at one time. I struggle to keep track of threads on here at times let alone having a few books on the go.

Anything that makes it uncomfortable to hold, whilst laying on a sunbed drinking cocktails, or casts a shadow so big it disrupts your tan. That's too big.

And yes, Stephen king books are great, but far too big for that x

Same. I forget names of characters, or end up having to reread pages to recall what's going on.

We were meant to read Far From the Madding Crowd at school. I couldn't get anywhere near finishing it. For much the same reasons as the poster above yet Funnily enough I liked To Kill A Mockingbird.

Can't be doing with fantasy though. I tried so hard to read Tolkien when I was younger but just could never do it.

I Managed the Hobbit when I was at school. and Ivevread it again since, Bilbo is a wonderful character.

The book we hard to read for our GCSE was The Outsiders, we then watched the film. I remember reading of mice and men to. I loved that book at the time.

I still can't bring myself to pay the same price for an e-edition when I'd prefer to have a hard copy for the same price. They need to sort that out.

I haven't read for a while, when I do it's like an addiction, I read about 12 books a week! On my beloved kindle normally. I love inde authors, Alan Mcdermott and his Tom Gray series are probably my faves, he sends me first editions signed for reviews, they are incredible books!

I like to have 4 books on the go at once. One of them is usually a long one that takes me ages. Currently that's The Brothers Karamazov. Then I've got A Wrinkle In Time and We Have Always Lived In The Castle on the side.

Kindle is cheaper and a no brainer for travelling.

I've recommended it before and a brilliant read, holiday or not; shantaram.

Kindle is cheaper and a no brainer for travelling.

Is it always cheaper? I've seen copies of new releases that have been the same price. Sometimes more of Waterstones have it on offer.

I don't want to take a doorstop of a book on holiday with me.... Takes up far too baggage space

Anyway with my kindle I can pick and choose what I want, and even start something new wherever I may be

I usually have three to four books on the go, so I can dip in to a genre depending on how my mood takes me

Stick to the books! Films almost invariably are a let down if you see them after. But also, get a kindle. I know it doesn't feel the same, but they don't hurt as much as a hard back when you fall asleep and they fall on your face either!!

The last fiction I read was The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

At the moment my reading time is dedicated to preparing for my next archaeology essay.

The worst book I have read was By Grand Central Station I Sat Down And Wept by Elizabeth Smart. But it is a long, long time since I read it and I might feel differently if I went back to it now.

I've just read a book by Jill Mansell, she is one of my favourites as it's always an easy read.

I love my kindle for ease but being a book work I adore the feel and smell of books. Waterstones is one of my favourite places.

They have a collection of fabric covered classics that I have started to collect.

I'm an avid reader whilst on holiday as I don't get as much time at home. I read on my iPad just because of the sheer volume of books I get through (16 this year) wouldn't fit in my case! I do prefer the feel and smell of an actual book. The last book I read was one recommended by a fellow fabber called The Bees.

i usually have about 3 on the go..i was given a kindle about 3 years ago,i looked at it, put it back in the box and ive never been near it again..i much prefer an actual book..worst books ive ever read were Martina Cole..in a hotel where there was nothing else to read..they are extraordinary!..the publishers have put them without remembering to have a little look and an edit first!

Wilbur Smith is one of my favourites,

Next read is called The Faithful and The Fallen by John Gwynne great reviews but set over four books and they are all massive. Believe it's a bit like game of thrones but much better!

I've just come back from Harry Potter studios so I've started reading all books from start to finish again.

It's the illustrated version so the book is huge and really heavy. Luckily I only read it in bed though.

I am an avid reader. Usually have a couple of books on the go. I have moved with the times though and have a Kindle which are truly wonderful and a fantastic way to read and store books. Gone are the days of heaving a heavy bulky handbag around with a dusty crinkled paper book in it. Plus Kindles are physically easier to hold and i no longer get achy hands/wrists/ arms/shoulders. Im on my 2nd Kindle and i love it. I normally read thriller/crime/police/scifi books but atm im reading a sort of chick lit book which is ok. Im also reading a history of Britain book too. Sometimes when out il read them on my phone. I don't sleep well due to pain so i often read in the night too.

The English Patient was a good film and I'd read the book a long time before the film came out. A rare example of a film doing a book justice.

I love my kindle, hate being on a train, finishing a book and not having something else to start plus we've got far too many books in the house. The kindle version isn't always cheaper but there's so much choice I just find something else, I'm not that much of a slave to any particular author or genre.

No such thing as a book that is too long. I can only think of three books I haven't finished, Don Quixote , Ulysses and a cheap indie one that was so poorly proofread I couldn't carry on.

I don't have to time to devote to huge books now so go for smaller bite sized ones I can finish in a few nights. Just read HandMaids Tale, as I missed it on tv and The Bloody Chamber. Can't do kindles

I just finished Animal by Sara Pascoe. Not the typical standup comedian book but funny as well as intelligent.

It's usually just the latest Jack Reacher I get in hardback.

There's a series coming up based on Philip K. Dick stories. I know some geeat films have been based on his books but I read a collection of his short stories recently and I didn't think it was great writing, though I could see why Hollywood likes his ideas.

After just two pages into Dave Courtney's "Stop the ride I want to get off" I knew I was reading the inane rambling of an imbecile......

I read Stephen King..Under the Dome is exceptionally long but an excellent story.

The last book I read was Missing by C Taylor XXX
