I guess the latter.

I negatively judge profiles with spelling mistakes and bad grammar. A boy has to have standards

I try not to negatively judge spelling and grammar because I'm very aware that my grammar isn't perfect (no idea about colons and semicolons), I know auto correct can make fools of us all and there are genuinely dyslexic people on here.

I do get disproportionate angst when I see "should/could would of" though.

In fab, with so much choice, you just decide and implement the filtering criteria that are right for you. You can always add something to your profile about it too - bad spellers keep away etc.

If I understand someone then that's fine. Repeated forum chat about it does alienate those with issues, which is sad.

What I find off-putting is people who use text speak, and things like lol at the end of every sentence.

I have a brain injury so really struggle with spelling on here. My words tend to get mixed up a lot , so any kind of writing I do can take me a long time .

I've had a few negative comments on my spelling or when I've rushed my status and not checked it before posting . Peoples grammar might not be the best due to a number of reasons.Maybe people should think about that before posting threads about it .

In today's world, those who are poor with spelling and grammar either get angry at others who pull them up or they go down the dyslexic excuse route.

Either go back to school or use a spelling and grammar checker, it's not rocket science and it's not our fault if you're thick with the English language. Comprendre.

Actually I know some very intelligent and interesting people with computer science degrees that struggle to spell thier name. They could out smart the lot of us with ease and make it look like your the ones that need to go back to school.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

Are perfect spelling and grammar as important to getting on than they used to be? My parents learned split infinitives and declensions, I learned that I could spell better than my teacher, my daughters generation learned that it was more important to understand what they were learning than regurgitate it.

Unless the spelling changes the sense of a message/post (and that's where spellchecker does fail, unfortunately) then I'm not that bothered. Its amazing how easy it is to decipher a poorly spelled post anyway.

Just because someone finds something rude or they feel offended, doesn't mean they're right.

We know schools push for everyone to be winners but poor standards should be pulled up, not rewarded.

Those who can't get "Your" and "You're" right should go back to school.

Knowing the difference between English and American spellings is quite basic. I'm sure anyone finding that aspect tricky can always consult an English Oxford paper dictionary.

"In today's world, those who are poor with spelling and grammar either get angry at others who pull them up or they go down the dyslexic excuse route.

Either go back to school or use a spelling and grammar checker, it's not rocket science and it's not our fault if you're thick with the English language. Comprendre.

Gosh that's rather rude...

I'm sure anyone finding that aspect tricky can always consult an English Oxford paper dictionary."

In my opinion, they only need to go back to college, to learn proper grammar and spelling, if it's imperative to their occupation. Otherwise, it's a waste of time; just to satisfy people who have issues with it.

i don't have a problem with differentiating* between english and american. i have a problem putting letters in the right order and when my spellcheck has loads of wiggles under words it can get slightly confusing.

*i spelt that myself, no problem with spelling at all.

The spelling was spot on, just a different meaning to what you meant. I didn't think I'd be that bothered, maybe it was because you used more than one.

"Gets my tits right a quiver when people have a dependent clause and don't use a semi colon. Fuck sake!

I like how my phone changed that to semi Colin "

I know a Colin who can only get a semi

Eats shoots and frickin' leaves

"I'm not too fused, tbh. Unless it's an obvious spelling mistake like "fort" or something similar, that could be a little off putting.

"Fused!" "

I'm blaming auto correct for that one
