Bristol

So this morning kind of had an idea at cheating a little with my diet..

Used a ready mixed protien shake with my breakfast instead of milk....never occured to me to do it before but it worked

Currently im eatting near 200g of protein a day and its finding new and inventive ways of doing it, So out of curiosity any other "cheat" ways to cram protien or snacks in?

Liquid calories for me, I can't eat 5000 calories of solid food, around 40% is homemade shakes using full fat milk as a base.

I've been going gym consistently for 16 months now.

I was worried about protein and gains.

Then I thought I'm going to change my diet. I don't eat red meat at all.

Lots of chicken and veg.

For shakes I will do peanut butter, 3 big spoons full, with 2 spoons of any ice cream, 2 bananas with milk and blend that.

200g is a lot of protein.

1.1g-1.5g per lb of body weight (some argue per lb of lean body weight) is all you need. Assuming your doing 1.5g perpound that makes you 20st 13lb....ish.

I'm a huge advocate of a high protein/fibre diet.....but 200g of protein is a shit ton.

Alternative full English for me, three eggs scrambled, five rashers of bacon minus most of the fat, four Turkey sausages, 60-70 g of protein right there!

I drink milk by the pint as well as protein shakes and bars.

I was advised 1g of protein per pound of body weight, so 200g was my first target, lost a little now but still eat as much as possible

That was my first thought

The rule of thumb I go by when talking about protein intake is to eat 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight daily. I've seen reports that suggest you need less (usually based on nontraining individuals) and anecdotal evidence of bodybuilders who consume a lot more. But the single most important reason I prefer the 1 gram for pound rule is its simplicity

Sure you can add the www and the dot yourself

If it's good enough for arnie.

Another question for all you gym goers....

Where the hell do you get the motivation to pick up the weights from?

Clever thinking there I find its just easy breaking meals into smaller portions to eat through out the day working well for me. 1 tip eating alot of protein esp shakes ensure u drink plenty or will fuck up ur kidneys!! Speaking from experience on this matter

Useful ideas. I'm veggie so like my protein shake post workout. My motivation is not to die for a long long time.

Agreed it is a shit ton of protein to try cramming in, i am currently hitting my targets with it and a pretty intense training regime which includes weights, swimming, running and kickboxing training.

The diet im on does have some short cuts in it, but trying to just keep in interesting is a huge thing... After all having the same bits does get monotonous on the taste buds. Also its taking ibto account what types of protein digest and what speeds...cottage cheese vs whey ect ect

After a while it just gets bland and boring so trying to find new ways of keeping it semi interesting.

I eat about 250g of protein, lots of chicken, tuna and meat, eat 200g chicken per meal and I follow a zig zag calorie cycle program, which means you eat more on training days about x20 calories and keep the carbs high, then on the rest days eat x14 calories and carbs very low as if you was on a cutting phase.

I dont use a protein shake, instead as a post workout meal. I have a tuna wrap

I don't know how true this is but I hear if you eat alt of fish it makes your spunk taste fishy. That's always put me off fish haha

I haven't got an answer to the protein question (her replying so bulking up isn't a priority) but that about sums my motivation up. I love food but want to stay in shape (well one that isn't just round) Depending on what else I have on I use the gym and/or swim around a mile 3, maybe 4, times a week. Improving my swimming and having a proper pool session regularly is great for me.
