I don't normally give my other half flowers. And she has moaned about it.

So I got her a bunch of flowers (not from the nearest petrol station) because she had been having a hard time at work.

She was really surprised and happy. Then 5 minutes later asked what had I done.

If I'm honest, yes, it's very sad. It gives a pang of jealousy when you see/hear others getting shows of attention and love from others. It also gives a little fuzz of the belly knowing that there are people who are making and effort and doing these things for people they care about.

I beg to differ. The tightness of us Yorkshiremen is nothing more than a stereotype that's been blown out of all proportion simply because it's funny (which it is and i'm happy to go along with) but it's not true.
